Swanny Drain pipes

Hey thinking about heading down to drain pipes in swanbourne, wondering what its like ? Is it possible to fish for tailor with a brim rod while sending a balloon out or will smaller rods not get passed the surf ? thanks.

Vanautu

Hi guys just wondering if any one has lanbased fished in Vanautu?

I am going there sunday and any info would be great

Shark Broome Jetty

Caught this shark, I think its a Lemon Shark.

I was to busy holding on to get a tape measure out :P but estimating between 2 and 2.5mtrs

Caught it on a GT head I threw over when I got bored when the fish went off the bite.

I was using a 9" EuPro Cyclone that I usually use for flicking lures and a saragosa with 50lb braid.. I gotta say that the EuPro is one tough rod.

Thanks to Sherbs for telling me to get one!!

Another weekend searching for big noah

Had another eventful but frustrating weekend, fishing for sharks again didn't get a thing on Friday night except for 2 small runs and a very small shark lost.

The real fun was sat arvo just before sunset i had the balloon out with a big tailor under it and the drag went off for a short run then stopped, I looked out to my balloon to see a big splash the the reel took off, I grabbed the rod set the hooks and watched a very large shark launch out of the water kicking and thrashing before taking another 20m of line and throwing the hooks, f@&k how is it so hard to get the big one hahahah,

Just thought I would share that one as it was an awesome sight to see.

Cheers Chris.

Lots of sharks around

I fished with some new guys and girls to the sport, but last night sharks were going off all night, Atotal of 9 sharks 2 tailor and a herring

And some big sharks got away from us, Report and photos to come from new guys to the site

Fitgerald River National Park - Quoin Head

Just wondering if anyone has any experience fishing around Quoin Head? What's it like? Main target species? Thinking about heading down there at Easter, so I guess there is  a chance the salmon could be running if the water is cold enough!

Cheers!

Matt

Planning a 2-3 week fishing trip from Perth - Exmouth & beyond

Hows it going?

Since i work away and hardly get the time to do local fishing, or much fishing at all. I am trying to tee up with a mate ( living in Brisbane) and take some time off work in July-August to travel from perth to Exmouth or beyond and fish fish fish LBG hardcore.

Ive got a Nissan Patrol GQ which will be pretty well set up to handle the Offroad stuff. We also plan to camp out along the way and do it all pretty basic if need be.

Got most of the gear i suspect we will need to tackle some big bad fish. But still not 100% sure what to expect and would like any advice on gear that you expect would be essential or that you have found to be very much needed that could easily be forgotten.

Im used to fishing rocks, similar to areas down in Albany/Bremer Bay. Will be trying to berly the areas up and send out live baits, or throw poppers. Pretty keen on sending some Helium Balloons out, but have not done so before.. though i have read all about them and think we should be prepared to give that a go.

Any places you could reccommend that would be good to stop at for a day or two along the way? Any good campsites that would be well worth booking into?

Any places to stay away from?

Any places that i would need to organise prior to just turning up that would be well worth doing? I was looking into Quoba, that kind of situation with the basic chalets could be nice for few days.

Im basically very very keen to get up there and give anything a go that will produce some crazy adventures and possibility of some crazy LBG fishing.

... But i am also very nervous about heading that far away. I have been as far as Kalbarri, fished the cliffs and such..

Anyways, anything you guys can give me info wise would be awesome.

Cheers,

George.

Looking for new surf combo

G'day all, I'm gonna buy a new surf combo mid-week but got way to many ideas. Targeting fish like Tailor, mulloway, salmon, snapper and small sharks(the usual metro species). Was looking at a couple of Penn reels as they have done the job for me for years. Looking to spend around $500 to $700 so something half decent. Im really keen on getting this soon but dont wanna rush it and get a combo i will regret getting. Any suggestions with brands, size of line, mono or braid any info would be great!  Thanking you

Weed north on the beach

Could not fish y/day on the beach, All clear today

an appetite wetter -salmon season

With all sherbs talk and pics of landbased mackies ( Allright for some king sherbs haha), thought I would bring the tone down, to real working mens and womans fish.

This one is from last years run at cheynes area, Albany.

We lucked out as fat hungry salmon hit a school of large blue baits they had herded into the gutter in front of us. As we were pulling them in they were disgorging the baits , which we were putting on hooks to catch the next one, It dont  get any better, and we were hooting and hollering like kids in a candy store, as they charged into the gutter like mini black torpedos, with silver showers of baitfish exploding all around.

Its Autumm , and the south coast is calling!

Ballooning What have i done

Catching that mackie in perth, Ballooning will be bigger than sail boarding

Think about all the mess when there is  50  or more balloons in a beach like mullaloo to o reef lol

If you guys are thinking about ballooning find a place away from boat ramps Left of trigg is good But we had surf ski-- swimmer--- surf boarders--- Catching our lines  [Note our hooks are miles out]

alvey and ballooning?

hey guys, looking into getting an alvey combo for ballooning. my only concern is putting braid on alvey, done a bit of reading online about it. there seems to be lots of mixed opinions.

from what i understand the braid will cut up my fingers, especially when casting. i have never used alvey before, so i was wondering if this combo was soley for ballooning, would it be better to put braid on it and wear gloves or just stick with mono?

sure you guys have some experience, and opinions?

cheers

matty

Hope the mackie

Are coming out to play tomorrow winds might play a part bein S/E,   But if not lots of dhuie frames to put in a shack and bring the shark to us

And friday will be the go with E winds
