Places to stay in Exmouth, close to the fishing action

Hi there.

Have got most of my up coming trip to Exmouth all planned out and gear all sorted.

Just need to sort out/get advice on where to stay up in Exmouth. I would prefer a little self contained cottage/small house close to the Naval Pier.

Im not really that fussed about location, as long as its close enough to some decent fishing areas. Anyone able to reccommend a great place to get in contact with?

Cheers for any help.

George.

Bunbury mulloway

Hi all,

I'll be going for a solo mulloway sesh 2nite in Bunbury but just trying to decide which spot would have the best chance. Options are Buffalo beach, Belvedere beach, Myalup beach.

Which one do you think will have the greatest chance of getting stuck into one? Or even another spot other than those mentioned.
Anyone else going to be fishing the Bunbury beaches 2nite?

Cheers Sam.

Advice on where to fish in late October

Hello to you all LB fisherman out there. Really need some advice on where would be a good place for LB fishing in late October.

I have a week holiday end of October and would like some help before booking my holiday. I'm currently working in Overseas and plan to be back in Perth for some fishing during this one week break.

I have been to Quobba / Shark Bay / Coral Bay / Albany and Esperance last year but never around October so not too sure where would be a decent place for some fishing action around this time.

Thanks in advance.

Land based shark fishing

HI guys,

just want to join land based shark fishing, and have no experience with it.

I heared someone caught big shark aroung ammo jetty and rockingham, just really want to try it myself.

and I am now planning to set up a shark fishing gear first, becasue i do not have boat, so mostly I will do landbased shark fishing, from jetty, pier, mole and beach.

I think a heavy gear for casting long distance is necessay, so for spinning gear set up, I think FIN NOR OFS95 may be a good choice, which can hold 500yds/80lb power-pro easy. however, I found it is hard to find a rod can match big line rate and good length 10 ft or more for casting, so if anyone has experience, can plz share you experince, I am glad to learn from you.

I am also wana to know how to set the burley for shark, and what time and place is best.

Barra question

Hey fellas,
A mate and I have been talking alot about barra fishing, we are in perth, was just wondering what is the closest town to Perth for barra fishing, was thinking port headland, is there anywhere this side of there to catch barra, does karratha hold barra? Any info would be appreciated, as we have never fished or been up these ways before, and most of all never laid eyes on these barras,
Thanks in advance

fishing northern suburbs

Hi Guys,

Just moved to Perth’s way-northern suburbs. I haven’t fished any of the beaches up here yet as I’ve just moved in.

Was thinking of trying my luck at some of these local beaches this weekend. Can anyone recommend good spots in the northern suburbs, anywhere from Mullaloo to Alkimos really.

cheers

Things going crazy at the marina today

I took the arvo off and decided to see what the seas were like. I went to the marina and it was blowing a gale and the seas were really pumping so it was a matter of getting the car positioned so I didn't get soaked. It was about 1pm and as i looked toward the entrance it was a spectacular sight. The birds were going nuts in the wind as it seems something had created a blockade at the entrance/exit and having a feeding frenzie. Amazing sights really. It seemed like there was a very agressive and hungry school of something smashing the bait fish seeking protection in the marina.

Coud have been Salmon, could have been Tailor, could also have been dolpins. Whatever; it was an amazing schene. I did throw a line out in the marina with snapper rig but all I managed was a couple of nice Blue Mannas. Plenty of fish out there guys

Exmouth June/July

Hi all,

For my 21st I got a paid for fishing holiday to exmouth for almost 2 weeks from the missus. How good is that!

Going to be doing alot of beach fishing & exploring as its our first time there. Got my maps for the fishing zones and the ute ready to go, cannot wait!

What have people been catching off the beach lately? Got all sorts of rods and tackle (as your do), ready to go. So we are preparing for anything..

If anyone has any tips with whats working at the moment ect. would be good!

Will try and upload some pictures and videos from the gopro when we get back.

Thanks

PLEASE HELP! Girlfriend and I travelling west coast (albany to top) need hot fishing spots

Hi everyone I'm a new member here. My girlfriend and I have driven from Victoria to have a few months exploring the beautiful west coast, mainly to fish. We currently are ion esperance but heading towards Albany today. Thinking we will spend a week or so getting to Perth. We have gear for soft plastics and small baitfishing ATM. But I think we will buy a couple of bigger rods for some beach fishing. We ate also considering buying a tinny or smallish boat in Perth.

So if anyone can help us with some good locations it would be greatly appreciated. We would love to meet people for a fish and a beer too. Even better still if anyone wants company for a day out on their boat fishing we are happy to pay fuel and bring a few froths.

So hi everyone from myself and my Gf as new members and visitors to the west. Hopefully talk soon

Seascapes (Halls Head)

Just bought a block of land 100 metres from the beach, building there in the next 12 months. Beach there looks nice and deep, does anyone know if it fishes ok? I'd love to be able to just walk across the road and bag a nice Mulloway or Tailor :)

Help! Travelling from UK to Exmouth

 hello all,

First of all thanks to Bungle for his post, very helpful. I have travelled from the UK to WA twice now, and on my next trip I want to head up north to the exmouth area. For this trip I will fish landbased, and hire a car to get around. I have read all the reports on this and other forums. Some people seem to really struggle to catch anything decent up here, whilst others catch loads.

What I'd like to do is lure fish in the day for tuna, GTs, quennies, mackerel etc, whilst at night I'd like to fish for sharks and shovel nose rays.

As I'm travelling all the way from the UK I want to make sure I get something big, so can anyone tell me what my chances are if I fished the area in January?

Thanks as always,

Tim
