Submitted by diddleysquat on Sun, 2012-04-01 16:13Hey guys, im new to the site, been reading for a while but never posted. Ive been to both a good few times and had no luck other than very small herring, and lost loads of gear in the process! Any help would be appreciated, have no idea what rigs i should be using! Thanks

Took the new guy/Monk/ on the site
Submitted by sherbert on Sat, 2012-03-31 18:24for his last fish before going back to uk- And start a task of getting a trade behind him, so one day he can return and stay on and live here and fish our great waters
We hit the beach at 4.30 and put the burley pot out and in 30 mins sharks everywere, I landed 3 in 30mins and monk got snap off 3 times
Then the tailor came in and we got 16 tailor in a short time NOT BIG BUT BALLOON SIZE
Then monk said look at that And it was sharks leaping out of the water hitting tailor in midair
Monk carried on fishing and let 14 more tailor go while i was packing up the 4x4. We left at about 8am with tailor still biting
Cheers steve
First time for me seeing sharks leaping out after tailor
Photos of the tailor and sharks will be put up when monk gets to uk and downloads them

Ballooning winds,
Submitted by rails8291 on Fri, 2012-03-30 16:28Hey guys how are we all. I'm not looking for any "secret spots" just wondering if anyone would have any ideas where I could go ballooning if there was a N/E or S/E wind rather than waiting just for a easterly wind, if anyone knows of anywhere or has any ideas that they don't mind sharing would be great, just flick us a PM. Thanks in advance Rails

Submitted by rails8291 on Thu, 2012-03-29 10:02Hey guys how are we all, I'm chasing a smaller rod to use of wharf and jettys, ( like eshed busso) chasing mullas and maybe small sharks. was thinking of using a boat rod around 7ft, do use think this would be fine, and any recommendations on brands that'll hand this type of fishing, budget around $150-200. Thanks in advance. Rails

Coronation Ballooning
Submitted by reddo_crothers on Wed, 2012-03-28 21:29G'day guys
I've done heaps of beach fishing around coronation beach north of gero, and have the area pretty sussed out as far as tailor/herring/mulloway go.
I know there is a reef that runs the whole way along the beach, in most spots about 100-200m out, and was wondering if i'd have much luck ballooning there?
Guessing there woulld be mackies hanging around there but not too sure??
There is herring packed around the beaches, would they be a good enough bait for ballooning?
Any info appreciated.
thanks in advance

nice feed for the family
Submitted by bitten on Sat, 2012-03-24 13:48went out on my quad friday night south of the grenough river found a nice gutter and managed to find a spot that wasnt snaggy which was difficult settled in for a fish saw another group turn up and land a few tailor while i had nothing to show for the first 40 mins or so.
first fish i got a small tailor that went back. the other group left just on sunset, just after they left i landed 2 tailor and an underszed mulloway in 3 casts all went back as i am no longer permitted to bring tailor home according to the missus.
just before last light i go tthis nice little 4kg mulloway. as soon as the sun dissapeared i landed 2 wobbegong in 2 casts the second one a bit bigger than the one you see in the photos then about half an hour later i landed another mulloway about 6 kg he also went to fight another day as there was plenty of fish to feed the 3 of us at home with the shark and mulloway, dont think i will keep another wobbe though so hard to fillet.
i did get a bonus with the first wobbe when i cut his head off i found a free sinker and set of gangs lodged in his throat, along with a crab, my mulie the head of a small dart and some other small baitfish nice nights fishing with a warm 12 knot southeasterly and a few cold beers
cant wait to get back to that gutter it seemed verry fishy fish went quiet about an hour after low tide so i went home happy

Keen to fish Jurian Bay
Submitted by nifty01 on Wed, 2012-03-21 19:51Hello all,
Been in WA for a couple of months on a "working holiday" ( more holiday than work after getting "shafted" ).
Loving the South West. Have fished whereever I could get a go. Busselton Jetty, got snook, herring. No luck with tailor though.
LOVED Salmon Beach. Got my first ever Salmon down there and am hooked!! Ended up with 5 fish over 50cm, biggest 58cm. Had a ball on a 6 foot telescopic rod and 2500 reel. Great fun!!. Unfortunately I no longer have that rod and reel after it was washed from rocks at Albany as I went to attend to a surf rod that appeared to have a decent fish on......turned out to be a huge lump of seaweed, and on turning around I saw my favourite little rod being dragged away by what i assume was another clump or weed. B$%$#ARD !!! Sad to see it go too.....Sorry, getting a bit emotional again :) Even got 4 good herring on a 40gm chromey.
Harvey Dam.....................you can have that !! Paid $40 for a bloody licence and didn't even see a "boil" rorm a fish.....not even bloody Redfin.
Unfortunately , due to the job stuff up, we had to come down this way earlier than expected, so will miss the salmon schooling, and we are starting to head north tomorrow.
We have 2 1/2 weeks to go from Perth up to near Denham, so keen to hear of the best places to landbase fish up there. Not good enough ( brave enough) to do cliff stuff though... . Thinking of stopping off in Jurian bay and Kalbarri on the way up , so if anyone can help with advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any "must see" things up that way, would love to hear of them.
Many thanks,
and look forward to more posts.

another nice mulloway
Submitted by Chris fish on Wed, 2012-03-21 12:28got another nice mulloway lst night. caught it on my little saltist 30 and loomis and franklin 6-8kg o/h rod. it ate a tailor fillet and put up a good fight that lasted 20 minutes on the light gear. there was a lot of back and forth over the rocks chasing it and a few scary moments gaffing it on my own after it finally tired and came to the surface.
cheers chris.
