Rock Bolt locations
Submitted by Jesus Fr3aK on Mon, 2023-12-04 10:00G'day everyone, this will be my first post so bear with me!
I've discovered google earth, and am planning a trip with a mate down south around the Albany/Denmark area.
Safety is paramount when fishing the stones, we will be taking all of the safety essentials (ropes and harnesses etc)
One of the places we are really excited about is a place called "The Deep" just around the corner from Lowlands Beach.
My question is: are there rock bolts at this location?
I have checked recfishwest, which has rock bolt locations, "The Deep" is not listed.
I have seen an angel ring in pictures of the location (The Deep) which leads me to believe recfishwest have been there, but I cannot see any rock bolts in the pictures.
If anyone has any information, it would be much appreciated.
-Cheers.

4wd south coast fishing access.... its slowly going..
Submitted by quadfisher on Sat, 2023-04-15 12:03Just a quick info post about what im seeing and hearing on more lost access in WA ..
Our sport . pastime and for a lot , way of life is under enormous pressure and its going to reach a head in the
next few years if it hasnt already ..
What will we leave for the next generation as legacy if its all lost on our watch ?
I hope people remember all these changes at the next election and either give fishers and shooters a vote or at least
rid us of green centric parties if thats possible.
Now onto access ... thru friends I see access to white point and the whole strech of beach between blackwood river and black point
( scott river beach) has been closed or made almost impossible to traverse)
The gates that allow access to the eastern end of hassell beach ( bluff creek beach) and the access to wait a while beach have also been locked ...
I am quite aware that some of these access tracks traverse private land , some dont ...
( the east end of bluff creek was shut because of a ground birds nest )
So , in summing up , the old non national park accesses seem to be dissappearing , and the national park areas are under greater control ( where you can camp,
entry money , no dogs , no quads , destruction of fish creek hut a few years back etc etc) .......can anyone see a pattern forming?....
. control of the population seems to be the catch cry of late and
believe me im no anti vaxxer or protestor of masks etc but a dog knows when its getting hit and this slow burn of fishing bans ,
access or indeed whole areas ( city of cambridge etc) ( this is only what im aware off) should be a huge concern of every West Australian.

Taylor - Cleaning Scales Off
Submitted by Tupac on Thu, 2023-03-02 15:33Quik questions for the lads.
I had caught a few Taylor now and the first time i tried to scale the fish, there were no scales coming off and to some extent the skin was being peeled.
did Google search to see if Taylor have scales and the info there said 'yes'
What am i missing with removing scales off a Taylor fish?

Night Fishing - Surf : Recommended Light
Submitted by Tupac on Thu, 2023-02-09 15:18Seeking advise for night fishing.
Can you recommend a reputable economical night fishing light?
Seen fisherman at the mole using headlamps - is there not a mobile versatile lantern that works?
Also, mostly read about using green light and not white light so as to not scare off the fish.
Searching BCF etc, there is a grocery list of stuff but nothing with green light?

Mandurah Fishing - disappointed
Submitted by Tupac on Wed, 2022-12-28 08:39Took my newly purchased 2nd hand 4x4 on fishing trip to Tims Thickett on Boxing day.
Enjoyed the beach driving - vroom - Sahara never missed a beat
Fishing was disappointing - high winds and every cast caught in sea weed.
Tried Whitehills thereafter - same story - high winds and sea weed/grass.
My son was dissapointed not catching any fish but he enjoyed the 4x4 driving on the beach as much as i did.
Keen to catch something before heading back to work - should i try north of river and if so can u recommend spots/locations that i can drive on beach.
Appreciate any feed back or tips.

Plenty of choppers around
Submitted by flangies on Wed, 2022-10-19 09:55I was down at palm beach jetty last night for a quick sesh and it was almost fish a cast on the little choppers. Biggest would have only gone 25cm. It's a pretty good sign because I actually went down for the plagues of snook that are there this time of year and I didn't even see one, only tailor.

Salmon Time
Submitted by OldMateAdventures on Sun, 2022-04-03 08:03Hey there Team,
We have spent the last few weeks camping along the great southern and have been camping at spots we'd always just driven past or never had the time to check out.
Below is a day recently as we had a unplanned stay at Bremer Bay to wait for a part for our caravan. Not a bad place to be stuck at for a week!! Had Bremer Bay Brewery down the road and the Tavern was even closer! We had a few stormy days first which I floated around in the bay in my dinghy trying to find these monster Bremer Bay Squid but only managed 1 semi decent one which was enough for a feed for me and the misso.
Days turned better and the wind swung around in our favour to start exploring the beaches out of town. We spent the first day at Fosters Beach and tried a few spots and gutters, managed a couple of decent flathead on bait and the herring were thick so that was lunch and dinner sorted again. Track in and out is so so, if your precious on your paintwork of the 4wd i'd advise to suggest taking your mates car (which we found is a common scenario on most of the tracks down here)! Ha
Next Day we headed to Reef Beach which was a little further out of town on the reccomendation of my neighbour in the caravan park who was also a keen fisho, so we headed there and drove in. Similar track in, free pinstriping haha. Just before driving onto the beach on top of the hill your first glimps at the ocean i actually said "wow" out loud, what a unreal beach (jump on google maps and you'll see, even has 2 salmon schools in the gutters!) so we drive down and straight up my wife Kel spots a salmon school just past the waves, I jump out and grab my rod with a 55g Samiki Lure and have to get chest deep to get a hook-up (pictured below) and catch my first salmon of many for the day.
We waited around for more schools, caught a couple more flathead on baits and then a couple of hours later a few more schools came in close further up the beach, came in close and in between the reef and beach. Could catch salmon till your arms didn't work anymore!
I don't usually keep salmon to eat unless the old man was with me with the smoker but 1 swallowed the lure that bad it couldn't be released so we blead it chopped it up for lunch and was pretty good with a bit of seasoning fried up with some fresh bread!
- Bottom photo is a few days later at Mermaid Point near Cheynes Beach (even crappier track in than Bremer bay beaches but well worth the extra pinstriping!) , Misso got some great drone footage of this school as I was climbing down the cliff and managed to get into a few until a Bronzy came in and scattered the school.
We'll have it all on some episodes coming up on OldMate Adventures - YouTube, as we Trek up and down the West Coast these days semi retired at 40, we sold up everything for life on the road with our old 88 Viscount caravan and Trekking and Fishing has become a our way of life. 6 months in and absolutly loving it.

Beach fishing at Quobba
Submitted by tonyoc on Fri, 2022-03-04 15:52Hey all, I am planning for a 4 day trip to Quobba at the end of July with a mate, probably just spinning and bottom fishing.I have seen a lot of info about fishing from the various ledges, Garths , Caves etc. which we will definitely be doing weather permitting, but I am also interested in doing some beach fishing, spinning and/or bait but there isn't much info online. I read somewhere that the beach south of the reserve at point Quobba can be good but very little other information available that I can find. Since time will be fairly tight for us I was wondering if anyone has any tips regarding locations, baits, lures etc.

old freo traffic bridge
Submitted by M.an I. L.ove F... on Tue, 2021-07-13 17:51Coming back south mole couple hours ago (caught nothing) driving along the river in east freo saw a bloke posing with a 6ish kg sambo he mustve just caught right under the old traffic bridge. Ive heard of sightings from ages ago about sambos in the river but in all my time fishing in the river ive never seen one myself. i spose the weather is encouraging them through the harbour. Anyone else caught or seen sambos in the river??? Also anyone been catching pinks at the mole in the last couple weeks ?

Caught a dude with air tanks
Submitted by captain 1 eye on Sat, 2020-07-11 18:47I Thought id share our day today as i cant stop laughing after doing some google earthing yesterday and the ground near Penguin island looked great .Some weed and some nice sandy patches .Must be flatty country so my cutie and i planned to leave bout 830 to catch the last 2 hours of the run in and then fish the change .In the car with coffee and 6 jackets and beaney no bait as im thinking that it will be blowie central.Nice cruise down there got there bout 930 .Wind was fresh lol temp bout 8c I put a zereck shad on my sweetys rod and a double clutch on mine with Nor easter bout 20 knots it was a bit tough to punch our lures out there .So we decided to head for the point in the distance .point Peron had a bag of pre made berley, had no idea were to fish but it all looked good. The first rocky outcrop was our stop .Nice breaze offshore which helped with casting. No action anywhere a few birds but not feeding.A couple of dudes prepared to go for a dive .They disappeared and only just 2 lines of bubbles could be seen . i had casted out a good cast and my wife said love wouldn't it be funny if you catch him lol.We had a laugh .Then bugger me as i started to wind in my line was going back out .Ohhh shit ive hooked him .I started to yell loudly hoping they might hear ,as line peeled from my reel. All we could do was piss our selves laughing and hope he realized that he was hooked .After a few minuets he popped up and gave a wave .Then it took 10 mins to unwrap the line .They both did an arch and came in An english man came up to us and said bet thats the biggest fish you have caught allday .All good no fish not even a blowie lol. Another awesome day with my gorgeous wife exploring your beautiful part of our lucky country. Will be leaving Perth heading to Darwin soon so looking forward to actually catching a feed.
