Non return slide bait clips

Hey everyone, am doing a week long trip at the end of April camping on the beach near Esperance (most likely at Dunn Rocks) and have been looking into these non return slide bait clips I saw Steve and his mate talking about on the Perth Fishing TV facebook page a couple of weeks ago. Just wondering if anyone has used them and recommend them? I've always worked on the theory of casting to and anchoring your bait in the strike zone (gutter) so was thinking these may only have the bait swimming through that strike zone for a few minutes, so interested in hearing pros and cons. Also do they work well for dead baits like strips or mulies? And what are the different applications of the weighted ones and non weighted

Cheers

LBG Rod suggestion for Shimano TLD 50LRSA 2 Speed

Can I have some suggestions for a good LBG rod?

It will mainly be used for drone fishing with a gannet bait release so casting/rod length is not really an issue

I am after a 15-24Kg rod

I have been looking at the Wilson Live Fibre (RLF14, 8ft, 15-24kg) and the OzFlex LBG rods

I have a Shimano TLD 50LRSA 2 Speed, will probably put 60lb braid on with 100-200m of mono top shot. I went for a reel a bit bigger than I originally planned but mainly for the amount of line needed, as I will send it out 500m at times and to be prepared for any sharks as well :)

Any other suggestions on other rods is appreciated. What would be the best rod for the Shimano TLD 50LRSA 2 Speed?

Thanks in advance everyone

sandfly attack

In my many years land based fishing in and around City Beach to Scarbs I've never got more than the odd mozzzie bite. But Friday evening just gone, bit north of floreat drain, I was eaten alive by sandflies! I didn't even know they happened in Perth. Hundreds of bites. Next day my feet looked as though I had a new pair of lumpy red socks on.

So be warned, and maybe wear some insect repellant. might just be seasonal but nothing I've ever expereienced in Perth before.

Dirk Hartog quoin head

Hey guys does any one have any latest reports from dirk or quoin head specifically got a trip planned for mid march chasing any real info for the spot as this is our first time to the island

Freo to Swanbourne Area

Hi everyone, im trying to find some spots on the beach that bike-rideable from my house (im 15). Does anyone know any spots??? Im the kind of person that is happy with everything, from whiting or herring to sharks! I used to fish the moles, but im not up to it anymore because I got mugged by a dozen (literally) housos (some were 13 and off their face) with my mate. The police barely cared of course. I think they got a move-on notice from Freo but I doubt that means anything to them, so im looking for some quieter spots anywhere from freo to swanbourne.

I have also got a great kayak, but I can't use it at night.

Thanks for any help!!!

Also, are there any kids my age on this awesome site??? Keen to compete! ;)

New to the site and looking for information around the rockingham area, typically using lures but haven’t had a great deal of luck only small herring on occasion. Would appreciate tips and tricks, possibly some spots that aren’t to bad. ANYTHING WILL DO!

Cheers guys.

Whiting

 G’day guys,

Does anyone know where the whiting are biting at the moment ?

And what technique are you using ? Iv heard some people swear by using surface lures and others say live prawns or worms. Also day or night ?

Thanks in advance guys

Two rocks north access

Gday , been to Wilbinga a abit lately ( and getting the odd tailor) , but havent tried aroung dewers or flattrocks for a year or so , so can anyone

shed some light on current track access thru that way.( Damepatti drive)

I kinda gave up on the area after all that track shutting and city of Wanneroo anticts a while back.

Just wondering if its back to normal or is flattrocks still only avail from the north , cheers.

Shore fishing north of Perth

Hey guys I was just wondering if any of you have any inside knowlegde on some ripper landbased fishing spots between yanchep and jurien bay where a mate and I can do an overnight trip. We have a 4x4 so beach driving should be all good. Also just checking if its prohibited to camp on the beach whilst you have your rods set up in the water. We would primarily be chasing the usual beach species herring, tailor, mulloway etc.. and maybe some sharks. Any info would be greatly appretiated. Thanks in advance.

Exmouth/Yardie Creek

Hey guys,

Heading up the coast mid september and planning to spend a week or so camping, fishing and looking around between Yardie Creek and Exmouth

Will be our first time up that way, but there will be a few of us in pretty competent 4x4s.. fishing landbased the whole time

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of some decent spots to check out, no coordinates or secrets spots, just a general idea of what areas are worth exploring as there is a lot of coast to cover up that way and hoping to get into a few fish haha

Looking to take a big beach rod to send out liveys/baits, a medium rod for throwing lures and a flicky to catch bait.. not really equipped for any LBG stuff, but may invest in a new rod for the trip haha

Cheers

Herring by catch

 Hi all.

Spent some time in Bunker Bay chasing herring. Landed an un-expected by catch. Pretty happy on the light  rod off the rocks. This one must have been lost.

Surf rod recomendations

 Hi guys

Trying to decide between a 14ft low mount assasin beach master, and a custom ozflex of same parameters,

Prices are pretty similar, so just trying to see which has better track record,

This rod will be matched with a stella 30000 (eventually) and will be used to target sharks off the beach.

Thanks in advance for advice,

Cheers, sharkhunter1

Samson fish land based metro

Hey guys been chasing land based Samson fish for a year on and off but seriously for about 5 months putting in 2 sessions at least a week.

I've seen Samson fish twice in different two locations but I'm really struggling to get a take. I've been trying stickbaits live baits etc etc no luck. I invested in a throw net to try get a live mullet but they seem to have disappeared.

Not after spots or hardcore secret just a push in the right direction would be highly greatful as I know landing themselves going to be tough but hooking ones becoming hard enough.

Thanks guys

Lure fishing help needed

 G'day,

I'm just wondering if anyone could give a complete beginner to lure fishing some advice.

For the passed few years I've been wanting to catch a fish on a lure, but I've had no luck. I'm clueless when it comes to lures, I hardly know how to use them, I don't know what ones are good for what fish/situations, and I have no idea where I should even be lure fishing in the first place.

So, what I mainly need help with is good spots for lure fishing (not asking for secret spots or anything, just anywhere that works), somewhere between Scarborough and Mindarie, preferablly close to Hillarys. I've tried lure fishing all the way up and down both of Hillary's rock walls with no success, same goes for Ocean Reef Marina's rock walls, and I've also tried lure fishing off of the North Mole with no success as well.
Usually when I lure fish I put on a small soft plastic and bottom bounce it in the hopes that a bream or maybe (if I'm super lucky) a pinkie will hit it, or I put on a metal blade lure and reel it across the surface or a meter or so under the surface at varying speeds in hopes of tailor or herring hitting it, but I've never caught a fish doing either of those.

The only time I've ever had fish hit or follow my lure is when I went on a fishing trip up to Dongara, I hooked a few herring/small tailor and a big North West blowie, but I didn't land any of them so I didn't count any of them as being my first fish caught on a lure.

What do you guys recommend I do? I'm stumped. I'm starting to think that there aren't even any fish there to hit my lure, it's either that or I'm just doing everything wrong. At this rate I'll have to wait for another Dongara trip just to get my first fish on a lure.

Cheers, any help is appreciated
