metro Red Bass?
Submitted by Jim on Fri, 2019-03-08 17:20Hi,
Picked up this beauty the other week was fat as around 7-8kg at a guess. Anyone got a positive i.d? Ive never caught a red bass but it looks like one?
Also picked up a nice spainyard on a cast metal.
Big school of feeding mackies came straight toward us. skipper hooks up and gets snipped, then I get snipped. quick rerig (no wire) and I got lucky!

Fish ID - Longfin Perch
Submitted by Belly Fish on Wed, 2018-09-26 09:29I got this fish off Jurien Bay in 90 metres. About 35cm long. Quick look at the FishWrecked ID says Longfin Perch and good eating so in the esky. However, when I google this now, every picture of a Longfin Perch doesn’t look like this...for a start the tail is different. Anyone clear this up? Perhaps Glen?

Submitted by Brody on Thu, 2018-05-10 16:42Hi Guys,
Have caught heaps of these before off Exmouth etc but always just thought of them as a type of fusilier, even though probably not. A friend needs to know the species.
Cheers.

How to identify Tuna
Submitted by Binod on Sat, 2018-04-14 05:05Hello Forum
I work in a Sushi restaurant and we get different kinds of tuna.
Is it possible to recognize tuna without seeing the whole body?
I am uploading a picture here which looks like Big Eye Tuna from my experience.
Thank you for reading out. Looking forward for tips and suggestion. Good Weekend

Shark ID
Submitted by Hutch on Fri, 2018-01-26 16:13Caught by a mate, I'm thinking sandbar but he says the pec fins were very long (over a metre each), he's not sure what species.
Has no teeth and a broken jaw which I assume is from a longline/drumline?

Thai crabs, not what you think...
Submitted by TheFishingNinja on Fri, 2017-09-22 12:52Hi folks,
Long shot I know but this sucker came at us when we were walking down to Hellfire Pass in Thailand this week.
It was a long way from water and no one here seems to know what it is. Had a look on the interwebs as well and can't seem to figure it out.
I am hoping Glenn's fish identification superpowers extend to Thai land crabs but has anyone else been chased by one of these before?
Regards,
Ninja.

Wahoo intestinal parasites
Submitted by ranmar850 on Tue, 2017-08-01 19:38This will probably be one for Glenn, and I didn't have a camera handy. When cleaning a large wahoo recently, I did my usual examination of the gut contents for an idea of what he was feeding on. The stomach was empty, apart from two rather disgusting looking purple/red blobs which were attached to the inner stomach lining. They were able to be pulled away without any apparent damage, and apeared to have a mouth on the end which was attached. They resembled nothing so much as a very fat leech, attached inside the stomach. Elongated neck, overall length maybe 25mm, with a fat end diameter of around 18mm. Fish was otherwise in perfect health, gave a good fight and flesh was perfect.
Anyone else seen these?

Two ID's Please
Submitted by aussiejoe on Sun, 2017-07-09 18:59Caught these two on an in shore reef on Saturday.
Fish 1: Concave forehead like a Barramundi - but dark and out of territory.
Fish 2: Sea bass (Epinephelinae) of sorts I would think). Originally thought it was a juvenile Estuary Cod but the head markings look different.
Thoughts please.
