Tailor tips

I thought I'd do a little one about targetting tailor from land in Perth.

Basic setup

•6-10kg rod 9ft+is ideal

•5000 Shimano size reel (just incase)

•20-30lb mainline

•crane or bb swivels

•60-100lb leader depending how nasty they are on the night bring a few different weights and upgrade if they're biting you off.

•gang hooks usually but a single circle hook can be useful if they're continually snipping you off.

•large ball/bean sinkers

After trying a fair few different methods I do this--->hook/gang, 20cm heavy leader, swivel, sinker on 2m shock leader, mainline.

Pilchards are the best bait imo and bait cotten is great. Rig tail down.

People go on about whitewash for tailor I'm sure it's true but I've found anywhere there's a decent sand patch between reef, Berly up and wait.

Ball or bean sinkers no good  . Roll round to much
star or grapple rig needs to set in

the sand or you will miss the strike.

Cheers pirate! I'll give it a crack I use basic running sinkers for most stuff I find I get more bites than paternoster might try a sliding clip and star next time though...
