Team "triple s" are back!

"Team SSS" are back together tonight to fish the hillaries rock wall for some action. Sherbert, shag and myself thought we'd take avantage of the mass berley trail and see what we can get into. Wish us luck, its been a while since this team has been together. Long over due. Cheers Chris.

Look out wedge island!

Sherbert and his pensioner mates are heading up to lancelin for a weekend of dribbling shit, catching nothing and hunting around for some nice drift wood to make new walking sticks out of! Na he rang me to say there having a full dinkim crack at some good landbased fish up there so look out to see some fishy pics monday! Good luck mate, get into them but dont get blowen away with the strong winds.lol. Cheers Chris.

Yanchep?

Just wondering if anyone has fished the lagoon area lately? Thinking of heading up there for a popper/lure session this weekend. Have the winter big boy tailor been around or any other fish. Cheers Chris.

any body know where the fish have been biting...heading out for some midnight fishing tonight any tips would be awesome....

Hillarys, Mindarie, Ocean Reef

Just thought id start a post for all those landbased coastal fisherpeople out there who know of and want to share thier spots in the various marina's in the northern suburbs....

I think we're all pretty clued up about where to fish on the outside walls of the marina's but a lot of action happens on the inside, with black bream having been introduced in the marinas, also other species which like to come in....

In particular, I was at hillarys today, wanting to get some bream and skippy inside the marina... never really fished inside so had absolutely no bloody idea where to go to target them.... ended up near where the dolphin pens were and my mate caught a nice sized leatherjacket, however, no bream or anything else worthile (damn blowies)

So yeah, anyone know some good inside marina locations for different species?

North mole

Hoping with this bad weather on the way the north mole mite start fire up with pink snapper, Thinking of going down saturday night

Wagoe Weekend

Hi all,
I'm not one to usually put up a fishing report, but with the amount of fun I just had, I thought I'd break that and share my experience for all to enjoy. Here it goes:

Last week was the last of this semester's uni final exams, and I hadn't been out for at least 2 months, so you can imagine where I was coming from. I definately had a bit of an itch, but a quick check on seabreeze told me that the weekend would not be too enjoyable out wide, or even a bit nearer in. This obviously did not please me much. However, after recieving a friendly call from long-time fishing accomplice Rob, who had other ideas, plans were set for Wagoe. Neither of us had ballooned before; I hadn't even a clue of where it was; and a quick pep talk from Mr. Paul Willis and hasty net search was all that prepared me for the trip. Rob pulled off the masterstroke by ensuring we had a tank of helium, and off we went. The day before, Paul advised me that conditions might not be perfect, as the winds might not be blowing a true easterly, as shown on the forecast.

After getting slightly lost in the dunes in the dark, and a brief cold sleep, we woke up early to pick a spot on the beach to start. Birds were flying about and diving, and this was a good indicator. We set Rob's rig up first, with guesstimates of the amount of gas needed, and sent it out. While we were doing mine, I remember Rob going 'hey, did you see that splash?' and before you know it, the rod was bent and the drag was screaming; we were on. This took less than 10-15 minutes from when we stopped feeding line out on Rob's rig, and were still setting out mine.

With blood really flowing now, we pulled it all the 400-ish m or so in, interspersed with some nice runs. It washed up in the surf for me to gaff it (and get soaked with a nice wave), and boy this was a nice fice. Probably not past the 20kg mark, but I would have called it around 18kg, there's a picture below for all to see.

[img_assist|fid=196313|thumb=0|alt=robs mackie wagoe|caption= ]

This 10-15 minute wait *bang you're on!* continued until we had a total of 3 macks, all of them fat and heavy, as per the pictures below, and then we ran out of room in the esky. And it was only 10.30 or so in the morning. Without wanting to risk unsuccessfully catching and releasing a fish dragged back 300-400m or so, and through a pounding surf, we reluctantly stopped and settled in to fillet and clean our fish, making space for at least 1 more. The rest of the day was spend 4-wheel driving and taking in the (new and spectecular to me) coastline south of just where the Kalbarri Cliffs start. Having just come off exams, this was certainly a great way to unwind. With the swell at 2.5m, the reefs were rather unfishable, and we settled in for an early evening that night to catch up on lost sleep.

The next morning we were greeted with at least 2 mackies free-jumping, as spotted by Rob (I still had the sleep in my eyes). Again, Rob's rig was sent out, and before long, we could see a mackie splash, and we were on. This time before we didn't even need a rod-holder. After a nice tussle, a slightly smaller mackie came ashore (but still a nice size) and we decided that was it. No need to be greedy, we already had a heap of fillets, and although we could make some room for more, that's alot of mackie to go through. Obviously this was a very drawn-out and reluctant decision.

[img_assist|fid=196302|thumb=0|alt=wagoe beach]

The rest of the day was spent losing sinkers fishing off the reef-ledges (with the swell dropping to less than 1.5m or so) and exploring Lucky Bay where we threw some poppers for not much. The evening was spent relaxing on fold-up chairs while soaking a bait on the beach. A couple of nice tailor were brought it (for metro standards, at around 50cm) and big rays and sharks warmed us up. We tucked in around 11 and then headed home on Monday, all in all content and never thinking its supposed to be this easy. Mackies shorebased sure is fun.
Certainly a great weekend for me.

BREAM NARROWS

is a 30cm black bream a nice pick up for under the narrrows just before nightfall?

Flathead in the swan

i was out with my dad last mondat night on the swan between around were the crystal swan is held at barrack street and the narrows and bout 1.5 hours in to it my dad struck and pulled in a 32cm flatty it was pretty big to get around there and we never would of thought they would be so close to the construction work

Octopus At Hillary's

I was at hillarys disabled platform today (11.4.07) and after being there for about 3 hours i cast in and then left my rod against the rail and my 9kg line suddenly went tight at first i thought it was a snag but i could reel in so i though it was wwed until i saw a witish colouration. at first i thought SQUID but then at second glance i realised it was an octopus. It slipped of my line before i could retrieve it; only catching a blowie instead. My dad eckons it would of measuresd approx 25 cm and wieghed about 2kg's as it was all bundled up in a ball . it was a pretty lucky hookup because i was only using ganged 3x2/0 hooks with a strip of mulie My dad also caught an undersized skippy about 30 mins later

Is the current still bad at the moment

Did anyone fish today

I'm heading out for a fish in the morning was wandering if the current is still roaring like last week???

Binningup Beach fishing

Hey guys,

Cheers
Keedy

Flatrock here we come!

Heading up to flatrock on saturday morning if anyone is keen to join us. Me and sherbert are will be going but you do need a 4X4 to get there! There may be some room with someone else but that will have to be confirmed. 9 to 12 foot rods are the go and a block of mulies and some blue bait do the trick. Poppers and metals as well if your into that. We will be leaving farely early and i will put up a meeting spot if we get any interest. Cheers Chris.

Mindarie Tailor

My mate caught this 40cm specimen while ballooning for sharks. Was almost gonna pack up and leave when the rachet went off.....too bad it was on 15kg tackle. Would have been nice on something lighter.

Fishing at loonies/flat rock

Going 2 flat rock friday night till saturday lunch time Any 1 like to come feel free 2 PM me leaving about 6.00/6.30 Looks like good tailor water nice and rought and maybe some mulloway at night steve

swan snappers

went for a fish in the river on sunday night, hoping for a mulloway. Had two big rods out with livebaits and fished for whatever else may come by with my bream rod. after catching 2 herring for bait i took the float off and first cast caught this little snapper, ended up catching 5 in a row, followed by a chopper which bit through the 20lb leader right at the last moment. after that it went dead and i couldnt hook anything but trumpters. Hooked another unstoppable about 1am that im guessing was a jumbo ray.. went incredibly fast and busted the braid at the line roller after about 150m. biggest snapper went 31cm.

Yanchep with the triple s boys!

Full story. Me shag and sherbs headed up early to yanchep the day before me 25th b'day for a casual fish. Spess's turn to cop the "pull the piss" on the way down. We loaded in the drug get away car (sherb dilivers the good gear for a living) and set off. As we arrive Shag had to borrow some shoes off sherbs when we got there(poor fulla ill buy you some!lol.)and follow my torch light to see but we got down to the beach eventually. Pretty dark and rough down on the reef at 5am so the two older fullas headed back to shore until the sun started coming up. i sat there waiting for the big one which never happend. When shag and sherb came back out the sun was rizing and the fish started biting! Well for me and sherb anyway. 2 nice tailor each with shag a big fat zero. The waves were coming over a bit and with me thinking id have to anchor the old bloke on his walking stick (sherb)i just happened to have a little fall meself! Foot got stuck in a hole and over i went, much to the enjoyment of the other two i layed flat on me back soaking wet. Me leg was bleeding all over the place which must of helped out old fishless shag as all of a sudden he was hooked up to around the metery size of a port jackson which was lost at the edge. Never mind, Mr shagadellic got a nice tailor shortly after. A few laughs and a few fish was had by all and we finished off the day with a cold pie and iced coffee. Until next time these are the days of the "triple s" team. Great guys shag and sherbs so if your keen to tag along next time let us know.

Landbased, headsup.

Went down to hillaries south rock wall on saturday night around 6pm. Started off throwing some metals around then ran out of puff and baitcasted some mulies around. Still no success i opted for a standard dropper loop bottom rig with a couple of lumo beads attached for good measure. First cast out and i hit the jackpot! 58cm tailor that even pealed the 15 pound line from the reel! Stoked with that the second cast got smashed as well. This time 59.5cm! A PB by half a cm. Happy as larry it went quiet not long after but i had more than enough for a feed and went home smiling with my best tailor south of Yanchep. Get down there if your willing to get into them, was a bit windy and choppy but thats what gets em in. Also got a port jackson that measured in at 19.5cm! Little bugger took a 5/0 but was released to fight another day.

i know most of you fishos are pretty secretive about your favourite fishing spots but im getting bored with fishing the same spots day in day out.If anyone wishes to give me any help i would be glad. im particularly lookin for some tailor grounds in the south west corner

kalbarri

G'day guys and girls

i'm off to kalbarri next week and i'm wondering if anyone knows some good fishing spots within walking distance (25 minute walk/run) of the town. if so feel free to PM me.

in regards to fishing i'm fairly amateur so any help with jigs etc would be fantastic. i will only have a small rod and a light line.
