kalbarri

G'day guys and girls

i'm off to kalbarri next week and i'm wondering if anyone knows some good fishing spots within walking distance (25 minute walk/run) of the town. if so feel free to PM me.

in regards to fishing i'm fairly amateur so any help with jigs etc would be fantastic. i will only have a small rod and a light line.

Mate the jetty on the right

Mate the jetty on the right side of the inlet, were they hire small boats and the such is a perfect spot to get some late night tailor. There great size and will take mulies with ease. Chuck em out unwieghted and glently wind back in. As soon as the sun goes down they come on the bite, but get there early as its pretty popular with fisherman. You can also wonder up past that jetty and hunt around for some great size bream and even mangrove jacks.

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

Hi Gregor

Theres lots of small mulloway in the river and also quite a few bream. Salmo's information of buying some bait and asking a local isn't so bad, certainly a good place to start. I haven't been to Kalbarri myself, but have read a fair few reports lately and it seems like the river is pretty hot to trot for a bit of fun. As for hook size and rigs, trying a small running sinker, stopped by a swivel, to a 30 cm leader line with a 2/0 or 3/0 hook, either long shanked or small. In all seriousness thou, asking at the local tackle shop for some assistance will more than likely provide some very useful information.

Hope you manage to get into a few, let us know how you go. :)

Cheers,
Adam
