Tackle Rebate
Submitted by stevo58 on Sat, 2026-06-27 11:53
Anyone else tried to claim the $50 Tackle rebate offered at the moment available to all RFBL holders ( Rec fishing from Boat licence holders) Its a scheme to help the local tackle shops with the reduced sales due to the ban. Basically you spend $ 50 in a tackle shop that is part of the scheme then you can claim the money back via the ServiceWA app....... and this is where the fun starts. I wasn't aware I was so computer illiterate. Eventually got there to lodge the claim....after about 2 hours. Great system.

Bit like the apprentice
Bit like the apprentice incentive schemes, hoop upon hoop to jump through. The federal government one is so bad I gave up, even my apprentice support officer agreed it was ridiculous.
They absolutely do this on purpose.

WA Gov Portals
The WA Firearms registration portal was no different. At a cost of $35M of taxpayers' money it was a disaster. That $35M would have been better spent focusing on policing the criminal sector rather than disarming the responsible firearm owners under the guise of 'WE ARE KEEPING YOU SAFE'.
Sadly, the next WA election is a little under two years away. Having said that the Libs are a basket case, One Nation ............ could they do any worse?

Why does it have to end this
Why does it have to end this year, take it right up to when the demersal season is supposedly meant to open next year.

As I understand it Andy the rebate is also limited to the first 66,000 claims. That equates to a max. Gov outlay of $3.3M. Considering the Gov. receives in the order of $24M per annum from the recreational sector via fishing license revenue the $3.3M appears somewhat disingenuous imo.
