Just chasing some opinions. Have found an FCV-582l for a pretty good price. I know it is an older sounder, but what are you thoughts on them? Will it be better than the Lowrance Elite 7 TI that already have? I am also keen on a new Simrad 9". Should I not be such a tight arse and get the simrad as it has all the new good shit on it.  Hi guys. Currently my boat is fitted with a Lowrance HDS7 Gen1. I was thinking about getting something similar to plug in and use the two as stand alone GPS and sounder units rather than running split screen. However living in the Pilbara I fish Exmouth a couple of times a year and would like to start fishing in deep water chasing Goldband and Rubys. Any advice on what to run that would be suitable up to 300m. Would I still be able to use the HDS7 together to run maps?

 I have had three transducers on the boat in the normal position without much success. I have put a TM260 way out to the side to get it to work.

I had some success with a totalscan sikaflexed straight to the bottom of the hull.                                                                                                                                              I have always believed it is the hull creating bubbles so I decided to try and make something to divert the bubbles away from the transducer so I just sikaflexed a piece of thin ally plate in front of the transducer to try and send bubbles away from the transducer it actually worked. Doing 24 MPH in 35m it was working great.

This could be something for Gruntre to investigate for his problems.

Keep in mind I am not an expert on water flow [just a dumb sparky] so I may have just got lucky.

 Gday all, I have purchased a Garmin 75SV Combo for my 5m glass boat, I live in Bunbury and fish anywhere from 10m inshore to 40m offshore. The transducer is the original one that came with it (I believe it's a GT52HW-TM). I know settings can vary, but my question is. What settings should I be running to get a clear and good picture/reading, what settings should I play around with to get it right?

Hey guys looking at taking advantage of some of these sales goin on atm. Looking for advice /opinions on Lowrance HDS 12 Carbon matched with tm 260. I have a old gen 1 hds with 600w tranny. I do like the ease of Lowrance combos. Old one is on the way out and unless I win lotto can’t afford a new plotter plus a large screen Furuno plus  1kw . Anyone running this setup and can recommend? 99% of the time I fish demersals 30-100m maybe in the future try deep drop but mainly want to be able to sound ground quicker than I can now. Any help or ideas appreciated cheers 

 Hi I'm looking at a new echomap plus and wanted info on what tranducers you are using. The plus comes with the GT52 as standard but I was interested in the GT51 for more powerful side scan. Is there anyone out there that has used either of these, any info would be apreciated also what depths are you able to get side scan to read. I can get the old 95sv chirp packaged with the gt51 but would prefer the new plus as its touch screen as well as buttons. Most of my fishing is in 15m to 40m but would like the ability to go deeper if needed. Cheers

Doing a few mods at the moment and have a bit of a dilemma. Have purchased a M260 to go with a Furuno 588. Getting some work done to fit the 588 in by a reputable business and they're doing there best to convince me to change the M260 for B164.

In my opinion the M260 is a superior tranny to the B164, but understandably there will be some performance loses shooting through the hull verses wet facing. At this stage I'm not prepared to stretch to a pair of SS264's though. So looking for opinions on the M260 versus the B164.

 Hey boys, I got a koden cvs 128 with tm258 tranny. Seems like a good unit just after some tips on fine tuning and what settings people are running. Mainly fishing at 40/50 meter mark although been out in the 200/300 meters which seemed to work well out there I thought. Any advice would be great.

Having problems with the sounder side of my old lowrance and before going down the path of getting a new transducer or even a new sounder thought I would see if anyone had a transducer suitable for this unit that I could borrow to see if it is the problem. Have a few weeks to sort it out as not going to be fishing until my trip to Walpole in April so have some time.

we are finishing of the boat at the moment and we have the Garmin Chirp 95s also just bought the fusion that is Nmea compatable.

has anyone hooked them up togeather on here is it worth it? or is it worth running them both seaparte and not connecting them up untill we get other things to hook to them  

 This document arrived with my Airmar transducer. In all my research I didn't come across this and it would have been good to see it early in the piece. I thought I'd post it here for the benefit of others researching this technical subject..

Gents...dropped my elite 5 this morning when loading the boat.. .only use for GPS.

Its still working, still got marks and tracks but am struggling to see the screen...its like its lost its brightness...dont have a full manual  atm so we look up this sarvo and try having a play once the sun goes down as struggling to see in full daylight.

Anyone had these repaired before....hopefully just settings.

 We are very close to purchasing an EVO3 NSS12 for a new boat but the Raymarine Axiom Pros have also just come out.  I really like the Simrads but the Raymarines seem to have a better 3d system with the autostabilising gyro.  Sounds like the 3d will still not work very well deeper than 30metres though.

There is very little real world experience with the Axiom Pros given how new they are but has anyone had a detailed look?

 We are looking at sounders for a new boat, primarily Simrad EVO3 and Raymarine Axiom.  We are hearing mixed things about at what depth the 3d structure scan actually works.  does anyone have real world experience?

 Has anyone tried running chirp on a traditional type transducer and if so was it any better than running it non chirp.
