Stren Microfuse
Submitted by kknlk on Sat, 2014-03-01 09:56This is being discontinued and can be bought relatively cheaply. Variety of reports on it, like most things some bad some good. Paulus only been able to test 10lb which broke around 30lb. If you've used it what's been your experiences? Is it worth getting?

New toys
Submitted by kknlk on Tue, 2014-02-25 12:05Just saw something called Zipcut pro which attaches to your rod and makes it convenient to trim line. Between this and the Breakaway Cannon there's not any room left on the rod to attach any more toys.

Rod to suit a penn 950?
Submitted by BoozeFishSnooze on Fri, 2014-02-14 15:03Hey guys I have a penn spinfisher 950 loaded with 24kg line paired with a boat road at the moment for off jetties but I was wondering what size/type of rod would maybe be better suited for getting baits a bit further out? I have a 12ft beach rod but it seems a bit too big for jetty work. I have around $200-300 spending.
Cheers, Shaun.

Cheynes Beach turist activities, for the wife and kids.
Submitted by opsrey on Mon, 2014-02-10 17:00Just hoping for some ideas as to the other things to do at Cheynes beach other than fish. Now I'd be perfectly happy to fish the whole time, but there are others in our family who like to do non fishing things. At least I'll be there fishing :) .... The fishing will be beach, rock and kayak.
I have picked up a good amount of fishing information, but am having trouble getting a handle on the other activities through the district. I am a wear of a very tiny river/estuary that feeds into the bay that we will check out. Daughter likes going 4x4, so a bush and beach Pajero trip is on the cards.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Is there a time of year preferred to hunting sambo LB
Submitted by Super peg on Thu, 2014-02-06 11:18Hey guys, I'm curious if there is any particular season that the sambos are more accessible off the rocks or is it just a matter of burleying up and hoping one comes in?
My plan is to get some love herring and balloon on out, failing that, perhaps sliding one out, while keeping consistant burley trail,
any tips would be appreciated also, this is a big goal of mine and I plan to be hitting a few locations sourced last year down south, I've done a lot o read ups but want to here what the gurus have to say

Light tackle- fishing line.
Submitted by pembo6 on Tue, 2014-01-07 13:25Most of my fishing has been done with medium-heavy land based gear, with 20-60lb proper mono leader . I rarely get out the lighter rigs. So I'm not sure what light leader to use from the beach.
In the past, when fishing light tackle, I have generally just used normal mono fishing line for leader material. Maybe 6-12 lb. This line always seems to twist/curl and tangle more than the proper leader material. I have not seen proper leader material in these lighter weights - or am I just blind?? (other than fluorocarbon which is too expensive for my modest budget) The proper stuff seems to have a coating on it and is harder wearing and curls less.
What do u guys use for lighter leader material for fish like whiting, herring, tarwhine, dart etc. Is it available at tackle stores in 6-12lb weight?
i use between 6-12lb braid mainline.
Thanks for any advice.

Leeman
Submitted by Hunter.S on Thu, 2014-01-02 17:29G'day all
Heading to Leeman for a few days with the family and want to get some fishing in....
The jetty I assume is a good place to take the 6 yr old for a bit of fun....herring and squid from what I've read.
Where can I go for an early morning fish? Don't care what I catch as long as I'm near the water and outside!
Suggestions???
Thanks!

Geographe Bay beaches (early January)
Submitted by sonoftherock on Mon, 2013-12-30 14:49Hi all, I'm heading down to the bay on holiday later this week and I was hoping for a few ideas.
I love it down there, but this fishing always tends to be a let down! So I'm looking for a few tips...
What are the best beaches for a feed of whiting during the day?
Is there much tailor action on sunset? We've usually packed up by then, but I'm interested if it's worth sticking it out for a while? There are a few reefy areas around meelup and Eagle bay that look like they have good potential for tailor. Also, the reefy area at the northern most tip of Bunker Bay (near Shelley cove) looks like classic tailor territory? Has anyone had any luck there?
Also, do the beaches around Yallingup hold many whiting/herring during the day... I'll be there one afternoon and I'm interested to hear if it's worth bringing my rods.
Any tips are most welcome! Desperate to catch a few fish this year (n.b. only have 2wd at our disposal!)
