Fishing Cervantes
Submitted by MacMan on Mon, 2008-02-25 18:05Hi all first post here, I only found this website last week. This Easter I am taking a mate and my family up to Cervantes. I don't have a boat or a 4x4 so what kind of fishing am I going to be looking at doing? Any and all tips will be welcome.
Plus we are looking at something similar for this coming weekend but not as far.
Thanks
Craig

Anyone off to Gnaraloo soon?
Submitted by Catch 22 on Sun, 2008-02-03 08:43Hi Aussie buddies. Travelled from South Africa to Gnaraloo in May of 2004, 2005 and 2006 and in 2007 my mates came to South Africa to catch some monster YF Tuna. Both my boat buddies have now sold their boats and May 2008 is just around the corner. Anyone going?

Montebello Islands Trip 24/2/08 (Only 1 vacancy left) Get in Quick.
Submitted by Andy Mac on Wed, 2008-01-09 11:57I have been made aware that Bernie Vale up at Coral Bay has commenced 6 days live aboard charters to the Montebello Islands, departing from Exmouth on a Sunday and returning late Friday evening.
I have known Bernie for a while now and fished with him quite a few times. If I wasn't so busy with work at the moment I would be up there in a shot. This guy is a world class marlin skipper, you have probably seen him on telly with the boys from FWA etc. Top bloke, and thoroughly recommended to take you on a trip of a lifetime.

I wouldn't normally post something like this, but when Bernie and Sandra e-mailed me with an invitation, I thought, since I couldn't go, I would post it up for any interested forum members to take a look.

Just a word out on anyone interested in trip to NC, looking around Dec 20th-28th or so. Will be popping and jigging, with Doggies and GT the intended targets. Biggest from reports around this time last year were 40,43,50 and 57kg GT in 8 days.
Kindly PM me ASAP if interested, it is a prime date and could go by FAST.
Looking for 2 serious anglers to join.
An appropriate budget should be around AUD3500 subject to flight prices.

Abrohlos trip!
Submitted by SPESS on Tue, 2007-06-12 16:27Between tapout, bouttime, tangles and myself we got into some awsome fish out there. Plently of fun in the shallows to trolling there was fish everywhere. Tapout and myself did some diving and seen some awsome mackies to 20kg yellow fin tuna to over 100kg with sickles over a metre long! Bouttime and tangles found a nice drop off and got stuck into some nice dhuies and pinkies as well as heaps of good redthroat and baldies. We trolled up shark mackies and tangles nailed some good tailor we could only dream of in perth. Tapout and myself waided the shallows, he got a nice tailor on popper on i got blood poisoning from slipping on the coral! Mark, tapouts cousin did the "OP" with a toothbrush and sissors....man that hert! Bouttimes boat got some damage on the windy nights when the ropes snapped and then got bogged trying to get it out at port gregory! Tapout was seen waving at mackies under water and they both got sick of my grunting while bringing in all the big fish on 14lb!lol. Not really, all of us did well on the light stuff and got some awsome captures anyone would be proud of.
A big personal thanks to bouttime and tapout as well as tangles and his "secret spots" i had a great time. Good blokes, nice boat and i rubbed 2 PB's off my list. Thanks guys i had a ball. Cant wait for the footage and ill post a heap more photos up when i get the chance. heaps of tapout, bouttime, tangles and myself to come.
Cheers Chris.

Extra spot for Abrohlos Island trip
Submitted by TAPOUT on Mon, 2007-04-23 18:08Possibly have an extra spot for a trip to Abrohlos Islands in early June on the good ship Bouttime. Hopfully spending 4 to 5 days at the island then heading to Kalbarri for 4 to 5 days aswell. If anyone is keen let myself or Steve no. You will have to pitch in for the usual fuel, bait, accomidation in Kalbarri ect. Obviously need your own gear and prefer someone who has some boating knowlage so we can take turns skippering. Should be the trip of a lifetime so if anyone else has a boat and wants to tag along aswell let us no.

Horrocks Beach
Submitted by Hansie on Wed, 2007-04-04 13:34Howdy.
Heading up to Horrocks next week for a quick mission. have dinghy and possibly 5.3m ali boats. Never fished there before but liked Little Bay when there in 1999. Planning on camping there the weekend after Easter and hoping to nail a couple Macs, trout, dhu, pinky, mulloway.... High hopes I know.
Any tips on seasons for those species (ie: are we too late for dhu, will they likely be deep or in close, is there no point scratching around for mulloway etc etc) or for camping there in general - the track is still strictly 4x4 i assume. Planning to leave trailer at boat ramp in town and cruise dinghy around to little bay... i seem to remember there being fairly safe anchorage in the bay or to beach dinghy on shore?
any good feedback appreciated.
cheers fellas

Kalbarri/ Dirkharthog(turtle bay)
Submitted by rusty lock on Mon, 2007-04-02 21:52Hi guys, Im heading to kalbarri for the easeter break with my 5m console.
not having been there for some time i'm a bit green as to whats biting this time of year. I'm hoping to chase some mackies and tuna trolling up and down the coast and try some bottom bouncing if I come across any lumps on my travels. But really this trip is just a meer warm up to the yearly boys epic trip the Dirkhartog camping at whitnell point. I need some tips on hunting GT's. I heard they run in reasonable numbers there, maybe not like further north but i think im still in with a chance. Never having targeted them before ive been reading up on them, but some first hand info from people who have wrestled these beasts before would be appreciated.
My girlfriend thinks im crazy obsessing over a fish but i know it will be worth it.
Cheers.

Submitted by jay_burgess on Sat, 2006-12-16 21:23A while ago we had a thread going for a Shikari charter on Saturday 20th of January to go jig up some sambos. Unfortunately the other groups that were pending have now confirmed their bookings on the day/s we were looking at so it's not a goer.

5. scott (pending)
6. (pending)
7. kc (pending)

Monte Bello Islands
Submitted by jay_burgess on Fri, 2006-09-15 20:08There is one fishing trip I would really like to do during 2007 and that's a trip to the Montes. We would prefer to take our own boat to save costs. It's only a 4.3m Websters Twin fisher but it's very seaworthy for its size and I'd be more than confident going over on it provided there was other boats with us (safety in numbers).
If anyone has been there or knows any information I'd love to hear about it.
What is the best time of year to go? What kind of fishing can you expect? What safety precautions should be made for this kind of trip? What duration should you go for, taking into account food, water & fuel that needs to be taken? Since the nuclear blasts you need to minimise exposure on the islands but are there islands which can be camped on?
Anything else that you can add that would be relavent to this trip would be appreciated.
Obviously it's a long way off but I beleive this needs to be planned well ahead in order to provide a smooth, successfull, safe and enjoyable trip.
Look forward to hearing any comments.
Jay
