Why are we a Nanny state???
Submitted by bsir on Fri, 2013-10-04 09:11A good example of why we are becoming a Nanny state/country.
This was sad, but why cant people take responsibility for their own actions?

Coral Bay-can anyone coming thru Gero pick up a small parcel at 440?
Submitted by Rob H on Fri, 2013-10-04 08:18Just wondering if anyone coming thru to Coral Bay might be able to collect a small parcel at 440 roadhouse and bring to the bay for me? Car part, about the size of a milk carton?
Not anything dodgy of course!

7.5m HT under construction- PICS UPDATED
Submitted by jng on Wed, 2013-10-02 07:25After months of looking around for a new boat I have finally settled on a custom 7.5m hardtop from oceanic fabrication.
After 3 visits to thier workshop in Henderson to look at thier workman ship, it was clear that no shortcuts Has been taken and thier build quality is second to none.
Looked high and low at different builders/brands ally and fibreglass. Decided on the ally because of annual trips north and the ability to beach it without worrying that the hull will get damaged.
Some of the feature of this boat will be- hull is a billy plug design with 4mm sides and 6mm bottom, 280ltr fuel tank, 100ltr water, 2x1400mm kill tank, live bait tank, 40ltr slide out engel, 250hp Suzuki
I have attached a few more photos, currently getting the motor fitted down at ward boats, couple more weeks and it will be ready for the water.

Norm Smith Medal
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2013-09-30 17:14Says a lot for their choice of Norm Smith medallist which is supposed to go to the fairest and best player in a grand final, when he gets charges with striking and is offered a 3 game penalty if he accepts it.
Cyril has been charged for his chicken wing job and the pimple squeezer from the Dockers has also been pinged.

on the record, right here, right now
Submitted by randall df223 on Sun, 2013-09-29 18:55There are a few out in fishwrecked land who dont like my 'dribble' about fremantle fc and would rather trash fremantle than talk up their own team.
Your posts say more about you than they say about fremantle fc.
My expectations for 2013 were for fremantle to finish top 4. They exceeded my expectations and I am happy. I am disappointed they didn't win the flag. But simply, whilst being better than they were last year, they simply were not good enough to win the flag this year. And hawthorn were.
I'll go on record right here and now. My expectation for 2014 is for a premiership and anything else will be an under achievement.
And I'll support them to the hilt. If you don't like my 'dribble', dont read it.

Gonna be a long trip home
Submitted by AlwaysFishin on Sat, 2013-09-28 16:35For all the Freo supporters who made the trip to Melbourne. Eat a fat one and happy to see the cup stay in mighty Victoria! At least we don't have to listen to all the pro-Freo crap on the radio anymore and maybe Randall can shut his pie hole as well.
Q: Which ship has never docked in Fremantle?
A: The premiership

Grand Final thought-------------
Submitted by terboz123 on Fri, 2013-09-27 10:04im start to think along the lines that the dockers supporters are going to be louder then hawthorn tomorrow........
Just experiencing a few hawthorn games this year in Melbourne, was pretty shocked at the atmosphere of games...and got talking to Melbourne people regarding this subject and most seem to agree.....
it would be embarrassing to Victorian football if this happens....and I think it will.
one eyed west coast supporter turned purple for a day.
and I dont give shit how many WCE supporters have a whinge, anything to shove it up the vics, and to be honest its pretty crazy around perth!!!!

AFL Grand Final 2013
Submitted by chris raff on Fri, 2013-09-27 09:37The big dance is upon us .. The biggest day in the 19yr history of the Dockers and the Hawks with last years loss in mind . It's set to be a fiery start I would imagine with players doing their best to assert authority . The best offensive side vs the best defensive side , the dockers go in as underdogs and will need to settle early and the challenge will be to hold the Hawks on the wider ground and give them no run . A formidable challenge to nullify the likes of talls Roughy , Hale and Franklin getting space and it will test the dockers to the nth degree . The dockers will need to maintain their pressure every minute for 4 qtrs to get over the line .. any free running by the Hawks and we'll be punished .
PS they were just saying on radio rumours are rife Buddy wants to come back west next year , food for thought .

Does anyone know of any good beach camping/fishing spots between two rocks and jurien bay? I'm from bunbury and usually head south so I'm not experienced up that way! Any help would be very much appreciated!! Just looking for a good spot that won't have heaps of people there, decent beach fishing and not washed away!
Thanks in advance

New EPIRB laws will help save lives
All skippers navigating more than two nautical miles off the metropolitan coast will need an emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) from January next year.
Department of Transport (DoT) Marine Safety General Manager David Harrod said the Metropolitan EPIRB Exempt Zone extending from Garden Island to Mindarie Keys and out to Rottnest would be abolished.
Mr Harrod said from January 1, 2014 new consistent State-wide marine laws would require skippers throughout WA to carry an EPIRB when operating more than two nautical miles from the coast or more than 400 metres from an island located more than two nautical miles from the mainland shore.
Mr Harrod said recent improvements in EPIRBs had seen authorities question the continued operation of the exemption zone.
“New generation EPIRBs provide exact location coordinates greatly enhancing the chance of rescue and survival in an emergency on the water,” Mr Harrod said.
“EPIRBs can significantly reduce the time it takes to rescue people and on the water this can be the difference between life and death.
“The cost of the potentially life saving device is also significantly less now with the cost of carrying an EPIRB, which has a six year battery life, less than $5 a trip if a vessel is taken more than two nautical miles offshore 10 times a year on average.
“Removal of the exemption zone also reduces confusion amongst skippers by providing consistent boundaries for mandatory carriage of an EPIRB throughout WA.”
In February last year the State Coroner recommended the reduction or removal of the EPIRB exempt area after investigating the death of a man while boating off Two Rocks in April 2010.
Mr Harrod said DoT had received widespread support from recreational boating groups and relevant authorities to amend current marine laws.
2
“DoT recorded 85 recreational boating incidents in the EPIRB exempt zone between 2008 and
2012 reinforcing the need for EPIRBS to become mandatory to provide rapid and accurate
location information to rescue authorities,” Mr Harrod said
“There is undisputed evidence that carriage of an EPIRB can save lives in an emergency on
the water.”
There are now more than 52,000 registered recreational vessels in the metropolitan area and
it’s estimated up to 20 per cent will need an EPIRB following the introduction of the new laws.
Currently 44,300 EPIRBS are registered in WA which accounts for 20 per cent of the national
total.
DoT has produced a special brochure to assist skippers purchasing and registering an EPIRB.
