SITE HELP - Internal Image Linking

OTHER SITE HELP

For a list of other HELP topics, including an introduction to posting and computing terms, refer to this Index Thread

INTRODUCTION

Previously, I covered the most basic method of posting an image via this site's Create Content - Photo facility. The thread for these instructions can be found by clicking HERE.

I also covered the first of three alternatives for posting multiple images or embedding one or more images into a new post in an existing thread HERE. This first option deployed the use of a REMOTE HOST to store your image/s and then linking to them within your post on this site.

Now I'll move onto the second option for situations where you wish to:

  • add a post to an existing thread and imbed one or more images.
  • start a thread and imbed(display) multiple images.
  • This second option is called INTERNAL IMAGE LINKING.

The advantages of this method are:

  • You don't have to bother signing up for and configuring a REMOTE HOST client for storing your images.
  • You won't loose the image display in this site if you, or the REMOTE HOST relocates your images, or if the site of the REMOTE HOST is down.
  • Your post with the image/s linked to this site should load faster when someone views your post. This is because when someone accesses your THREAD, both your post and the image/s are downloaded to their PC from this site only, not this site and the REMOTE HOST.
  •

    With this method, you:

  • Upload your image/s to this site.
  • Either open a new THREAD or post in an existing THREAD
  • Link to the image/s via the URL (address) allocated by this site when you posted your original image/s.
  • Here is an example of where this has been used to upload an image to this site and then display (imbed) it in an existing THREAD new post .

    PROCEDURE

NOTE - If you are going to post an image or images, and follow these instructions as you do it, then it suggested you open two sessions of Fishwrecked and display this post in one, whilst you perform the posting in the other. I find it easier to open two separate browser sessions rather than two tabs within one session. Then you can use ALT/TAB to toggle (swap) between them.

Upload Your Image/s To This Site

This is essentially the same procedure as documented in the thread SITE HELP - Posting Images Via New Thread, with one difference - you don't add text because you'll be doing that in the new THREAD or existing THREAD new post that you'll be adding your image/s to.

STEP 1 - On the LHS of the site is a Create Content item, if this doesn't show two items (Photo and Forum Topic), click on this to display these:

STEP 2 - Click on the Photo item - the following screen is displayed:

    Complete the Submit Image screen:

STEP 3 - TITLE - Type your desired title in the box below where it says Title

    STEP 4 - GALLERY

    - Select an image gallery - this tell the site software where to store your image on this site. Click where indicated on the following diagram:

    - A drop down list will appear:

Unless you have had Adam set you up with your own photo gallery (you'll need to send him a PM request), you'll need to select one of the general galleries - for example fishwrecked photos:

Simply place your cursor over the desired gallery and click on it. The Images Gallery field will now be populated (fill in) with desired glallery:

STEP 5 - SELECT IMAGE TO UPLOAD

    - Click on the Browse button to the right hand side of the Image field:

    - Assuming you are using a Microsoft Operating System you will see the following dialogue (screen):

    - Simply browse to your desired picture, click on the desired item (see note below) to populate the dialogue file name field with the desired image, then click on the Open button within the dialogue - the dialogue will dissapear and the Image field in this site's Submit Image screen will be populated with the location of the image on your PC:

NOTE - What will be displayed in your File Upload dialogue, will depend on how you have the directory of the folder that contains your image set up. Whether you display details, thumbnails (small images) etc.

STEP 6 - POST YOUR IMAGE - Click on Submit button :

STEP 7 - START YOUR TEXT POST :

Either by using this site's Create Content - Forum Topic if intend to start a new THREAD, or click on the existing Forum Topic or Image THREAD if you intend to add a post.

NOTE - For demonstration purposes, this procedure adds one image to a post.

STEP 8 - COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE POST FIELDS:

  • New THREAD - Using this site's Create Content - Forum Topic function, start your new post and fill in the Subject field, then select which Forum is appropriate and finally, in the Body field, type in your text. Your new THREAD should look like this:
  • Existing THREAD - Adding a Post - Click on the desired Forum Topic or Image THREAD and fill in the Subject field and, in the Comment field, type in your text. Your new post should look like this:
  •

Now we start the process of linking to your previously posted image/s.

STEP 9 - OPEN ANOTHER BROWSER SESSION - Again, I prefer to open a completely separate session, rather than a tab within the same session as you can use the ALT/TAB keys to toggle between the two.

STEP 10 - DISPLAY THE IMAGE YOU WISH TO LINK TO - From this site select your desired image post.

STEP 11 - OBTAIN THE IMAGE PATH.

This is the address of the image on this site, that is, where it is stored when you previously posted it :

  • Place your cursor over the image and click the right hand mouse button - a list will appear
  • The list that is displayed will differ between Firefox and Internet Explorer and the procedure for obtaining the image address is slightly different, so follow the procedure appropriate to the browser you are using:
  • FIREFOX: (scroll down slightly for Internet Explorer procedures)

  • From the list, select Copy Image Location:

  • The list will disapear - you have now copied the image address, ready for copying into your text post
  •

    INTERNET EXPLORER:

  • From the list, select Properties:

  • The following will now be displayed:

  • Now, drag your cursor over the text starting with http... to the right of the Address item, then right mouse click and select copy:
  • Now you know why I use Firefox!

In both cases we have now copied the address of the image. We will now paste that copied image address into the Body (new THREAD) or Content (existing post) field, just below our text in the other browser session.

STEP 12 - PASTE THE IMAGE ADDRESS.

Paste the the address in either the Body or Content fields below your text (right mouse click and paste or simultaneous use of the CNTL and V keys) - it will look like this:

STEP 13 - FORMAT THE IMAGE ADDRESS.

We need to add some code either side of the address - this basically tells the sight to display the content at the copied address as an image (IMG).

Add [IMG]at the beginning of the copied image address and [/IMG] at the end of the address. NOTE that these are different!

Now your code that will display the image should look like this:

IMPORTANT - Make sure there are no spaces between the IMG tags and the code, otherwise your image/s will not display!

There are parameters and sub parameters you can add into this code, but that I'll leave for another topic.

To add multiple pictures, simply repeat from Step 10 onwards.

STEP 14 - PREVIEW AND OR SUBMIT.

When you have finished with your text, pasting the address of the image/s and adding the IMG tags at either end of the image address, all that remains to be done is preview and/or submit your post! .

    JOB DONE!!

SITE HELP - Image Posting Assistance

After assisting a number of people with image posting and seeing the number of enquiries, I've started putting together HELP threads. It's impractical to put all of this information in one thread. Inevitably, these threads will become 'spread out'.

So, until Adam gets a chance to install an alternative method, I've created this as something of an Index thread and will list the various HELP threads that I've created. Of course, nothing saying other HELP threads (created or yet to be) can't be added here.

Then all that is needed, is for this one thread to be bumped from time to time, to provide both visibility of, and navigation to, the various HELP threads.

  • SITE HELP - Posting Images Introduction - An introduction to posting, images and terms.
  • SITE HELP - Posting Single Images Via New Thread - The simplest way of posting up a single image and accompanying text.
  • SITE HELP - External Image Linking - The first of three methods by which you can post multiple pics in a new thread, or one or more images in an existing thread.(The last method will follow as I get time).
  • SITE HELP - Internal Image Linking - The second of three methods by which you can post multiple pics in a new thread, or one or more images in an existing thread.(The last method will follow as I get time).
  •

Any worthwhile document including (hopefully) this one needs constant use assessment and may need alterations from time to time to make processes clearer and easier to understand. Similarly, dozens of brains are always better than one, so if you have a suggestion for documentation, sing out. This includes technical terms that you may not understand.

    INSTRUCTIONS

This is pretty straight forward. Typically, this method is used when you just have one image that you wish to post up and optionally (or not) add some text. You may (as has often been done)just want to post the image and let the title of the post say what you want to say. It's your choice.

With this method, the image is uploaded (copy transferred from your PC) to this site.

STEP 6 - SUPPORTING TEXT - Now, if you desire, type in any accompaying text in the Body field of this site's screen:

STEP 7 - POST YOUR IMAGE - Click on Submit button :

CONGRATULATIONS! You've just mastered how to post an image.

    Hard top v Canvas

    Hi all

My current boat canopy has just about had it, so looking at upgrading to either hard top or flat top canvas roof.  What are people experiences with one or the other of these and any pros/cons?

The build for both will include new solid ali frame/launcher and new clears.

    Boat is Leeder Customcraft 6.7m.

    Any info approeciated.

    Yamaha Serviceman

Anyone know of a good sevice mechanic to service a 150 Yamaha? Preferably a mobile guy but I can take my boat to him if needed.

    Thanks.

    New Axe

Been playing a fair bit of guitar lately on my trusty old LTD EC-1000 and Taylor GS Mini.

Sadly, my Nan passed away last year, and et Christmas, Mum and Dad give me $2000 as a little something she left for me.

I’ve basically been sitting on it, not quite sure what to do, until my dream guitar popped up on Marketplace at a bargain. An ESP EII which are hand made in Japan using premiums wood and a through neck rather than a bolt in.

A bloke was selling it to fund a particular Gibson he’s chasing, so I went and snagged myself a bargain. It is 11 months old (with receipts) and they fetch around $3.5k+ and I picked it up for $1,950. We met at a music store and I had it looked over by a luthier and took it home.

She’s an absolute work of art and an absolute weapon— no other way to describe it.

The only issue for me is that it came with 66/57 EMGs, so I’ll be swapping them out to turn it into a metal machine.

I’m thinking of going with the 81/60 set as I have the Het Set version of those in the EC-1000 or maybe something different like some Fishmans.

    Exmouth Holidays

     Hi Everyone

We are going to Exmouth in August and will probably stay overnight in Carnarvon

Just wondering if any one can recomend some where to stay that is secure for boat so we dont have to remove all the gear

    Thanks in advance

    Winter projects

So the boat is home in the shed for the winter after a massive summer and Autumn campaign.

So I've got a list of things to do staring with ripping up the deck carpet and replacing it all with stick on EVA foam flooring, mate did it with his and it's a great product that doesn't cost a fortune.

Next will be new fuel lines throughout and tank clean.

I've just bought a new 9" furuno combo that I need to install and get my head around, a big leap from the 585 with wind back capabillity, ACU fish feature and CHIRP capable, but not spending 2.5k on a new tranny. The 1KW I have will still do a good job.

biggest job I have is replaing the steering pivot arm, that's the part connected to the leg with a spline at the end, mine's corroded and the circlip retainer has fallen off. I've two different mechs about replacing it and both gave me a crucifix sign.

Anyway I've done a lot of research it's not thyat big a job, leg off (service at the same time) And powerhead off , you don't need to disconnect anything just suspend the engine. The hardest bit is to pop the spline using a bottle jack and the weight of the boat.

Sounds all good in priciple lol.

I've also been looking at respraying parts of the outboard itself, there's some great spray can products on the market, 2 pack paint and clear coats. It's all about the prep.

How about you guys?  Love  seeing the resto posts and any winter refurbs.

I'll post pics as I go along.

    Cheers

2025 last trip out of coral Bay

All done and dusted. Altho we didn't realy have a problem with sharks where we were fishing others have mentioned they had nothing but trouble . Ended up with our limit of fillets along with giving plenty away to elderly couples around us in the park. Despite the winds being up it was fishable . Finished off with this lot on our final trip out

Chat to your mates - Mental Health - Potentially heavy one.

    Howdy Team,

Earlier this week, I had a very emotional chat to our team at work about mental health. I tried to start the conversation on Monday but couldnt pre-compose myself enough to start talking. On the 3rd attempt during a meeting on Wednesday, I finally managed to get it out and yeah it was fucking hard work.

As a mental health first aider at work, we are in lots of conversations with people about a lot of topics. Most recently we have had a person who doesnt want to wake up in the morning. They have experienced a lot of tragety in the past year and are visibly masking their emotion and putting on a happy face to those around them, but are actually a broken person just under the surface.

Personally for me, we had to say goodbye to our dog in early march after 15 years. She was my first born, my shadow and my underdog.  (and is in my avatar) Although not unexpected, (we knew she wasnt well but were planning a night at garden island so she was with my folks and had to race back to the ramp just after sunset) absoloutely broke me. Each to their own but if you're a dog person (or pet person really), you may get it.

This with a combination of work stresses / neglect over the past 12 months have made the past two and a half months really shit. Most of mine will recover with time, and my healing is quality time with the family (which is essentially every week night and weekend), disconnection time (camping / boating offshore) and shutdown time (turning off the computer after work and over the weekend)

I know what works for me, and thankfully, i have a lot of people at work who i genuinely enjoy spending time with so have people to talk with. Again, time will help with a chunk of mine.

I guess I am writing this to speak up and get people to reach out to their mates. As i type this, i have tears running down my face but I am honestly ok.

Please send a message to a mate and tell them how important they are to you. Fuck it - tell them you love them! You may get called a few names and may get people calling you to find out whats wrong. It doesnt matter - reach out.

This video popped up on Instagram last night and had another grown man crying and talking about mental health. As a NOVA listener, Greg Hire was on the wireless on Tuesday morning and crying talking about mental health.

    www.instagram.com/p/DJ5cQZqTbIk/

We loose 7 brothers/uncles/sons/fathers/mates each week and 3 of our mums/sisters/daughters/mates.

Adam Selwood knew the impact of suicide. He knew the resources available but still whatever he was going through was too much. All the knowledge in the world wasnt enough.

Speak to your mates. Each problem is like a sinker. Sharing that problem with some one else takes a bit of that weight could help someone get their head above water.

First trip out 2025. Was average to start with but got better as the day went. Just a few fish today but Sandy outfished me as usual. She got a first in a nice coronation trout I got a small but legal trout then next drift Sandy done it again with an even bigger coronation trout.

    Trailer tyres

Hey guys. Might be a dumb question, but wondering what sort of jack you guys use when changing trailer tyres? Regular car jack ok? I'm heading up to Denham next week, so just want to make sure I'm prepared. Boat and trailer are about 3t, which exceeds the jack weight but I'm assuming since only lifting one wheel ok? Otherwise looks like only jacks that go that high are the trolley style which would be a bugger to have to transport!!

    cheers!

    Boat canopy UV protection products?

Hi just wondering if anybody on here knows of any boat canopy UV protection products (spray or paint on) that are available. My boat is kept in full sun and I want to try to extend the life of the canvas top cheers for any advice

    getting prepared for coral bay

Been spending the day making sinkers for our trip to Coral Bay.  planning on trying the deep stuff hence the 32 Oz sinkers. Any tips or tricks for the deep stuff like depth and what to look for. I have a rough idea but never fished more than 140 there.

    coral Bay question

Last year in Coral Bay there were loads of hardy heads at the ramps and was wondering if your allowed to use a throw net to get them for live bait. Never seen anyone doing it before but I know you can land base fish off the rocks

Something worth a watch I reckon

    New Fisheries Minister

Looks like we have a new Fisheries Minister, Jackie Jarvis.

Quick look shows a career public servant who worked for DPIRD.

Her Bio looks like a carbon copy of Heather Brayford (Director of DPIRD), no connection or interest at all in fishing.

Someone may have had dealings with her and add thoughts, but from the outside the close connection to DPIRD doesn't feel positive to me.

Lets see how Don Punches "pre-election assurances" to RFW and FFWA translate to a new minister.

Often, these are swept into the bin while cleaning out his office unfortunately.

    day trip point Samson

Headed down for a day trip to point Samson for something different.  did a load of miles getting a few fish out wide. We got a couple of golden trevally and I managed to get my first nanny  not a monster but it's a first. Headed in and made 1 last stop to clean the boat down . In 15 minutes we landed Sandys first trout that went 620 , a chinaman of average size , another golden trev and a nice size black

    Long weekend weather

What are the collective thoughts about this weekend? I went to Rotto last Saturday to see my daughter complete her first Rotto swim and the forecast got it massivelt wrong and we got spanked! All the forecasts had the wind dropping to below 10 knots in the middle of the day and it just didn't drop all day so I'm a bit scepticle. Almsot the whole week has been windier than forecast.
