Bearings -Penrite Grease
Submitted by bsir on Tue, 2023-09-12 09:35Ive been using Belray marine grease for my trailer bearings for the last foreever, but am thinking of swapping to Penrite Marine grease.
Has anyone had any issues with penrite?
Im only swapping due to ease of availability (i can shoot down to supercheap and buy Penrite, but always have to order Belray 99540 online).
Thanks

the sun set on another good day
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Mon, 2023-09-11 07:07The plan was to get out Saturday but plans often don't work out so Sunday was the go. Weather was looking good to do some exploring while out there. We found a few good spots holding fish but not all on the bite. Ended up in an area that usually produces good size grassies and it didn't let us down. The usual tag team was in effect again with Sandy hooking them and me winding them up . Doesn't bother me as I still get to eat them .
Got met at the ramp by the fisheries for only the second time since we have had the. Oat up here.

Finals footy
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2023-09-08 11:03Feel for Brayshaw getting Ko'd but don't think Maynard has anything to worry about.
That last quarter had me swearing at the umps for not seeing or not acting on the obvious frees that weren't awarded but thankfully time ran out for the Demons .
Don't know where they would be if Gawn goes missing, he carried them for the whole game

great days fishing
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2023-09-03 13:42Got to the ramp at about 8:15 but had a small wait to launch. Finally reversed down the ramp but then the damn winch wouldn't release so back up to work on it.
Finally got it freed at about 9 and off we went to a spot we have about 17nm out. First lines down just after 10 and the fish were biting straight away with a few smaller grassies coming up. So we looked around and with longer drifts than normal we found the bigger models and a nice red for Sandy. had 8 fish on board threw several mid size grassies back hoping to get another red or 2 but to no avail . Ended up bagging out with a couple more big grassies and lines were up a bit after 12 . With a variation from high to low tide of 7 mtrs and a big moon must have sent the fish into a feeding frenzy. Great day and now to enjoy several nice feeds after not getting out for a couple of months due to wind and work

E-petition against Regional electoral boundary changes
Submitted by Rob H on Fri, 2023-08-04 14:29Those members here who live regional may want to sign the below petition, having previously (despite undertaking not to when elected) taken away much of the Regional Upper House and are now at work removing lower house Regional seats.
The effect of this (as we have already seen) is that there will be little representation from the regions and hence even more "Metro-centric" policy making.
People who live metro may also consider signing, if they holiday in regional areas.

"Dodgy seafood" report by Minderoo
Submitted by Rob H on Fri, 2023-08-04 05:37Interesting report funded by Minderoo, has some great headline grabbing phrases.
Undoubtedly there is a problem with labelling but I'd have thought the mislabelling of basa and Nile Perch in fish and chip shops would be the major one, but does not even get a mention
"In one instance, we found flake served as battered fish and chips was actually school shark, which is classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature red list of threatened species."
I'd have thought that in Australia "flake" is well accepted to be any kind of shark, and as far as I know school shark is not endangered in WA or Australia?

insurance outcome (good!) thanks too Sunshine :-)
Submitted by pelagicyachts on Thu, 2023-08-03 14:51hi all
last nights storm was not great - my boat neighbours pen ropes broke during the night and his boat spent the night belting mine. Both our boats have sustained a lot of damage.
I have pictures of his broken pen ropes which failed at the splice and at weak points in the rope. my ropes held up fine
I lodged a claim with my insurer who advised that i would have to incur the excess even though it was a 3rd party impact because it was caused by the wind/storm unless the other boat owner was willing to admit liability.
The other boat owner is also insured with the same company, so there is no way he is going to admit liability as the insurer would then deny his claim!!
Early days in the claim obviously but interested to hear on how to approach this as it seems by maintaining my boat and ropes i am in the same position as someone who has not and the insurer getting 2 excesses for one incident...
cheers

Gold Prospecting
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Tue, 2023-08-01 11:32The old boy has a metal detector and is keen to give it a crack and I have a work mate that has a lease up near Yalgoo so as much as I have very little interest in walking around in the desert for a weekend vs spending a weekend by the coastline, he's driving mum nuts after retirement so taking one for the team....
There's a mob in Perth that hire out detectors so I may as well grab myself one for the weekend and I know there's a few guys on here that go prospecting so hoping they could offer some advice on which model in the link below I should go with as a rank beginner.

ASX shares and liquidation
Submitted by SeperateKnob on Thu, 2023-07-20 08:16 About 18 months ago I bought 5k worth of shares in asx listed company BWX. The company has been placed into administration and the share trading obviously locked.
My question is what do I do now? And how do I realise the loss and how do I apply for any money owing to me? If there is any.
Thanks in advance

Starlink
Submitted by sea-kem on Wed, 2023-07-19 17:13Just purchased a starlink dish and router with a rural special they have on at the moment for $200
The plans aren't exactly cheap but you can pause them month to month. Mine's mainly for use when we head north and I do need coverage to access emails for my business, pay wages etc, footy and maybe a little porn
Considering the rip off price for unstable wifi at Gnaraloo station this is a bargain.
It has coverage accross the entire continent, mate of mine who has it was watching the 2nd test in the pilbara outback no trouble at all.
Did a speed test today came in at 134 Mbps
Anyone else have it?

transfer papers
Submitted by Sea goat on Mon, 2023-07-17 17:54hey guys, just a quick quaetsion.
if you were to sell a boat and trailer, i am assuming one would have to complete both a boat transfer form, and seperate vehicle transfer form for the trailer?
boat is
also, given you have to state a price for the trailer, i guess you can just select a value as part of the total sale cost of boat and trailer? is it necessary to try and find the dutiable value?
cheers

Scuppers leaking
Submitted by Swompa on Mon, 2023-07-10 11:19Howdy Folks,
The new toy has an aluminium scupper on each side and they leak when there are a couple of people standing in the back of the boat, or when we are drifting and the boat cops a wave up the backside.
The seals dont seem damaged, there is no dirt or grit on the seal and the spring seems lively and it shuts like a mouse trap...but you can see water dribbling in.
Is that normal or is there something I can do to keep the water on the outside?
It is not a concern, rather a pain as the carpet gets damp and I am not a fan of water on the dry side of the hull.

anchor rope
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Tue, 2023-07-04 08:14Looking at replacing my anchor rope and just curious as to what type of rope is best . Don't use it often but want one that is going to last. Currently got I think is called silver rope and is starting to show signs of perishing. Would rather replace rope now rather than having to replace e rope and anchor down the track

Out!! Cricket
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2023-07-04 07:19Just My opinion
Having played cricket (junior) and captaining Taranaki U15's in NZ believe that was fair play. There is no difference between any ball 1-6. You have to ground your bat or body or you can be run out or stumped if you are out of the crease. Just because it is ball 6 and at the end and you are about to walk and talk does not give you the right to not be behind your crease. Once över"is called you can then go and chat.
Otherwise what is to stop you from sneaking a quick single in the game, especially in T20 and ODI's in the last over's.
JMO.
