Bored - Need a footy fix

Miss the blasts from the footy bantering.

So now that most coaches/trades etc are settled whats the opinion for the teams next year.

Dockers will give it a red hot crack, but its about time the talent at the Suns shone through. Big improvers possibly, but not GF.

karratha mechanic

leaving pots in the water at rotto all week

Hi crew

I am heading over to rotto in 2 weeks with a few mates for the weekend.  I am looking at also heading out this weekend so I thought I may throw my cray pots in this weekend.  Whats peoples experiences with leaving them in that long?  I know theres a good chance of an occy getting in and wrecking havoc on any crays but I am more worried out them still being there the following week and its 2 less things I will have to cart over the following week.  If there are crays in them well thats just a bonus.

cheers Rig

Herring bag limit to be cut

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/19782808/herring-bag-limit-to-be-cut/

Its about time. Always though a limit of 30 was too much. I will only take up to a dozen for a family feed that night. Does not freeze well anyway.

Any Mitsubishi Outlander owners?

Gday all.
Just wondering if there are any FWrecked members on here that own(or have owned) a Mitsubishi Outlander in the 2010-2013 range either the 2.4L 4 cylinder or the 3.0L V6.

Looking at getting a new car(used) for the other half and want an SUV. We are pretty keen on the Outlanders after a hell of alot of research, plus her sister and Husband own one so have got to play with it on and offroad and were thoroughly impressed.

Just wouldn't mind hearing some real world reviews from other people.

Already got a 4wd so dont need the 4wd/AWD/SUV debate. Other than city driving it may he used to tow the boat from home to the ramp and for beach dune driving up north(my brother in law used his up there and it went briliant) so I think it should suit this purpose :-)

Another choice is to go the 2.4L 4 cylinder CVT or the 3.0L V6 auto?

So any real world reviews or advice from personnal experience from people would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Buz.

Monday funnies - well if it werent true they might be funny

Here is an extract from exam paper answers from last years 16 year olds - we are educating them aren't we ????

...OK now, put your thinking caps on....

The following questions were set in last year's examination.
These are genuine answers (from 16 year olds)............and yes regretfully they WILL breed.

Q. Name the four seasons
A. Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar

Q. Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink
A. Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large  pollutants
like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists

Q. How is dew formed
A. The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire

Q. What causes the tides in the oceans
A. The tides are a fight between the earth and the moon. All water tends to
flow towards the moon, because there is no water on the moon, and nature
abhors a vacuum. I forget where the sun joins the fight

Q. What guarantees may a mortgage company insist on
A. If you are buying a house they will insist that you are well endowed

Q. In a democratic society, how important are elections
A. Very important. Sex can only happen when a male gets an election

Q. What are steroids
A. Things for keeping carpets still on the stairs
(Shoot yourself now , there is little hope)

Q.. What happens to your body as you age
A. When you get old, so do your bowels and you get intercontinental

Q. What happens to a boy when he reaches puberty
A. He says goodbye to his boyhood and looks forward to his adultery
(So true)

Q. Name a major disease associated with cigarettes
A. Premature death

Q. What is artificial insemination
A. When the farmer does it to the bull instead of the cow
(This is just downright disturbing!!!….on so many levels!)

Q. How can you delay milk turning sour
A. Keep it in the cow
(Simple, but brilliant)

Q. How are the main 20 parts of the body categorised (e.g. The abdomen)
A. The body is consisted into 3 parts - the brainium, the borax and the
abdominal cavity. The brainium contains the brain, the borax contains the
heart and lungs and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels:
A, E,I,O,U..
(wtf!?)

Q. What is the fibula?
A. A small lie

Q. What does 'varicose' mean?
A. Nearby

Q. What is the most common form of birth control
A. Most people prevent contraception by wearing a condominium
(That would work)

Q. Give the meaning of the term 'Caesarean section'

Geographe lizards

A mate and I headed out of Bunbury yesterday morning on his boat looking for a feed of whiting in Geographe bay. Hit a few spots and managed about 45 of them before lunchtime as well as a couple of nice squid. Also pulled up these two tidy lizards (along with about 50 miniature versions).

Afterwards we headed over to the artificial reef and I thought I'd have a crack with a 65g raider. After about 5 casts I had two nice bonito charge up from below and follow my lure with one of them smashing it no more than a couple of metres from the boat. Fantastic day and beautiful conditions.

Advice on what quad to buy/ also chasing outboard 50-70hp

Hi I'm looking for an outboard 50-70 for a 4m fibre glass runabout if anyone knows of one for sale. Looking around $2500 - $3500

Also looking at a quad to take along the beach at Yanchep to go fishing. There are some on gumtree that look really good but not sure if they are cheap Chinese imports or not. They have toe balls and winches aswell.  So many on the market now it's hard to tell what's what. Any advice would be appreciated. Something maybe 4x4 with racks and reverse would be the go. I assume you need 4x4 for the beaches along Yanchep to Two Rocks?

Shoo Away

What does a deckie do?

I see that requests are made for deckies fairly often and would like to know what a deckies responsibilities are and what is expected of them from a boat owners perspective.

STRANGE FINDS IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD.

Was out in the back yard over the weekend and after a bit of a clean up I found the bung off our boat that we sold about 2 1/2 years back.
hope the bloke that bought it got a new one before launching

marine upholsterer

Hi Guy's,

Chasing a reputable marine upholsterer to re-do my transom seat back rest. The vinyl has decided to give way and has split and cracked. SOR is much more preferable, and hopefully doesn't cost too much. It's for the rear of a 560 freedom sport.

Cheers for any advice.

MoBro Donations

Hi All,

I've been talked into doing Movember this year, unfortunately a few days to catch up due to a wedding on Saturday. If any of you generous souls feel like donating it would be appreciated for a good cause.  I will of course post up a few photos of the dirty moe I end up growing.

Interesting afternoon with a surprise find

Took the dinghy up to the creeks at Miaboolia to see if there were any muddies about. Ran the nets out and on the first run, 2nd pot picked up a crab that after measuring was about 2mm under, while trying to measure it I.d drifted in to that bloody brown slime weed that grows along side the bank on the upper reaches of the creek. Trying to get the bloody crab out of the net, get back in to clear water with a 20+ knot sea breeze and thinking it was solid the dog jumps out. Try to motor back in to save the little bugger because its too thick for him to swim, the motor stalls, prop choked with weed, pull the oars out and finally get to him.

Row out to clear water and get outboard running again minus 20 tonne of weed and slime, pick up and move nets closer towards the mouth of the estuary, running them back upwind in to another arm of the estuary, drop the last net then the motor conks out and won't start, check fuel ok, check oil ok, turns over but no start!, shit.

Out come the oars again, picking nets up that had been in the water only a few minutes and using the breeze to assist. Got back to the mouth of the arm that I'd set most of the pots in and left one because I had to return that way to head back to where I'd launched from. Headed down to collect the other two and got a good big keeper in the last one, rowed to shore and on stepping out of the boat found out the just because the bow of an 8.5 foot dinghy is on the shore doesn't mean its shallow enough to walk, resulting in getting wet up to my tits Grabbed the anchor rope and dragged the boat the 400 metres or so back up against the wind.

On the walk back I spotted a sawfish, all of 70cm cruising along in a foot of water, it took no notice of me as it went about its business. It was the first time I have seen one less than 3-4 metres long and only the second one south of Hedland.

Spotted 6-7 undersize muddies feeding in the shallows on the rest of the walk, hop back in the dinghy and picked up the remaining net only to find something with a bit of aggression has demolished it [suspect bull shark] then off on the over 1 km row back to the wagon.

Used to and still do enjoy rowing a boat but the body is telling me it doesn't like it the next dat, lots of aches and pains that have been hidden for a long time.

Hi Fellas,

A couple of months back I was looking to get a light truck but the deal just didn't work out and it was all too hard.  Instead I'm looking at getting a 4 door 4wd ute for under $10k and came accross this one below, just wondering if anyone has had much to do with them and can give me some feedback before I enter into a purchase.

Any other suggestions for vehicles are welcome, need to buy this week-end in Perth.

2000 Ford Courier 2.5l manual 4x4 ute,
Excellent condition,
Just had new gear box 12 months ago.
Comes with roof rack and near new tonneau cover.
Fantastic work ute.

Chasing a length of 75x50x3mm galvanised tubing

 Hi lads,

I am hunting for a length of the (75x50x3mm) galvanised tubing around 1.5 to 2 metre.

If anyone do have a off cut length of it, plz pm me. Willing to pay for it.

Or does anyone know where can I get a shorter length. Doesn't want to spend too much to get a 8m length where I don't need that much.

Thanks

Ken

Electric/Hydraulic Trailer Brakes....................HELP !

Hi All,

Hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction wrt trailer brake problems. I'm running a Breaksafe Series 5000 and Hydrastar HBA-12. Tow vehicle has a Tekonsha Voyager fitted. All has been fine since system was first fitted around 5/6 years ago.

Several weeks ago I seemed to develop an intermitant problem. After hooking up the trailer, depressing the brake pedal would cause the light on the Tekonsha to flash red to green continously and the trailer brakes were not operating. They would then start to operate after a few minutes. As of last Sunday they no longer work at all, Tekonsha light no longer flashes red/green, just stays green when brake pedal is depressed.. Pressing the test button on the Breaksafe operates the trailer brakes.

I have checked all wiring and it appears to be all good, checked connections in both plugs and found nothing out of place. I expect the problem to be either the Tekonsha or the Breaksafe. Any suggestions, or can anyone tell me how I might be able to pinpoint what is at fault ? Thanks in advance for any advice.

The Saint
