Buswell for Fisheries Minister?

Look, the "chair-sniffing/bra-snapping/dry humping Kailis at a party" shenanigans  tells me he's a regular bloke...but very good at his job...reminds me of Bill Clinton. But what does he know about fisheries? Remember when Alannah was Minister for Road Safety and got done for drink driving? Call me old-fashioned but I think if you're going to make somebody the minister of something, they should have some sort of a background in that field...

..."dry humping Kailis at a party". I just answered my own question! THAT'S his connection to fishing/fisheries! Those of us who are stupid enough to go do training/apprenticeships/uni studies/etc are wasting our time. Get drunk, dry hump the main seafood retailer in town, and BANG...you're Minister of Fisheries! Only in Australia!

For What It's Worth

Troy as a kid was a jetty rat like a lot of other people who grew up in Busso.and when he was living down here before entering Parliament could often be seen out in the Bay with his two boys in a tinnie catching crabs. Not so much these days though. Sure, he gets himself into a heap of shit sometimes and shit happens whether we like it or not but don't hold it against the bloke just because he's extra smart. He was behind us getting the Artificial reefs into  Geo. Bay and you've got to give it to the bloke,he certainly knows how to screw the Greens.

I actually agree, Howard...

...through pure arse, they almost certainly selected the right bloke for the job. I have no allegiances towards either of the two main parties but as transport minister he got things done. The issue I've got is how these ministers get shuffled around from interest to interest.

I mentioned Alannah McTiernan at the top of the thread...if you or I did that at our job we'd be sacked. She simply got transferred to another department and maintained her salary/lurks and perks.

Jetty rebuild

Thu, 2013-04-11 06:42

Though I don't like the bloke , you have to admire his passion for the Busso region. He managed to get the $23 million to rebuild the jetty while here in Carnarvon got $1 million to just keep our standing and fill in an 80 metre hole where it was burnt out.

Bet it would have been different if Carnarvon was his electorate.

yeh Carnaronite

Ah yes carnarvonite, I remember it well and still get a chuckle out of how it was funded. This all happened when Troy was treasurer the first time and he sent out a message to all Govt. depts. that because of the States economy they needed to reduce their budget by 3% and the cops had cut-backs of $24 mill and then $24 mill was allocated to rebuilding the Busso. jetty. Creative book-keeping I reckon but when you have control of the treasury , you can do things like that.

Very busy Buswell

Between treasury and transport he will be flat out, so hopefully there will be very few sweeping changes to Fisheries legislation for the next term! Would make a nice change not to have to study a new rule book every 12 months, even though I think the last one was an improvement.

Poor Troy

Thu, 2013-04-11 09:26

Being one of the boys in normal life gets you a slap sometimes for stupid amorous things, and praise from your mates. In politics mud sticks. But he must be good at what he does not to have fallen on his sword for his "indiscretions"(that is not tongue in cheek, but drooling!!!)

I welcome a high performing Minister to Fisheries. I suspect things will be done. Just hope its not to Green, and knowing Buswell as a pollo I doubt he would bend for them.
