That's a solid fish!

I've tried eating GT both as Sashimi and cooked (had one about 16kg go belly-up after release). Not a pleasant experience. Very similar to boot leather, though boot leather probably has a little more flavour and easier to chew.

cheers,

steve

when fishing in the tropics

when fishing in the tropics with things like coral trout and mangrove jack around, it makes me sometimes seriously question some anglers when they're happy to keep a tough old giant trevally for something to literally chew on.

just some questions running through my mind late at night....

Would only eat one in scuttlebuts case. Was in a similar situation in coral bay once when a sailfish couldn't be released.
