swan river mulloway

hey guys,

anyone know much about mulloway in the swan. i was thinking of anchoring and burlying up in mosman bay one night this week and tring to land a mulloway from my boat. does anybody know the best place to catch them.also any tips on them would be appreciated cause i know they are fussy bastards and really hard to catch which is why i guess i want to catch one this summer.you think small tailor would be the best bait??

cheers

there are a massive amount of choppa tailor in mosman bay currently. as Jas04 said in another topic we caught over 40 of them within 2 hours so on friday and they would be ideal as a live bait. ive heard if you anchor up around 20m water just off the cliffs near the moorings thats your best bet in the bay. there is a bit of a channel there that increases from 10m to 20m deep. another spot is always narrows as 2 have been taken there in the last fortnight around midnight - 2am. good luck

Don't fish live baits in

Mon, 2008-12-01 16:23

Don't fish live baits in mossie's, the spawning fish find to too "hard" to feed on a livie.

Thats what i have found anyway...dead baits mulies, scalies, tailor fillets...

Sam

yeah ok,

thanks for the tip. what were yo guys catching your chopper tailor on. since i was a kid i have always found small white bait trolled on gangs with a running sinker to help it down it the best. i have tried with halco twisties etc and have never found them to be nearly as productive.  i normally catch the opposite opint walter. near dalkeith.

i just need a night where the wind in 10 knots or less and ill head out there with some beers and try catch a mulloway :)

any specific moon phases or tides the best for mulloway?

There have been some good ones landed in the Swan in the past two weeks. Two rippers were caught on Saturday night from the same Tinnie. Both went well over a metre.Nice big fish in excellent condition.
