Simrad sounder shots - whiting and a wreck

Took these sounder shots yesterday in between Stragglers and FFB. The first we were getting nice plump sand whiting. Some a really good size.

The second is the wreck in between Stragglers and FFB in 18 m of water. Lots of bait on it but didn't get any hits on the jig. there were about half a dozen pots on it!

Gain

Mon, 2014-12-01 21:25

Thanks for sharing Randall, I am not used to simrad but is your gain really cranked up on than wreck pic?  I can't see anything in the screen shot that reflects your gain/sensitivity apart from tvg at 0.

also what is the black line feature called ?

cheers

The gain is set at 41 (out

The gain is set at 41 (out of 100) on both these shots.  it's the setting above the TVG (which is set at zero.

The black line is what the sounder interprets as the actual bottom.  on this unit I think it is called depth line.  on others it's called other things like mesh line and white line (I think).  you can switch it on or off.

Hey Randall, that bait school did look good. Was surprised there was no bigger predators on that school

There appears to be some stoner echos around the 10 metre mark , but they weren't hungry!
