Sea martin reels

Maverick's mention of Sea Martin reels has raised my interest in acquiring one of these fine reels. Does anyone have any idea where I might find one - and what sort of money they are worth?

Many thanks, Colin Hay

I have checked out the Campbells situation. No luck there. No luck on ebay either. I am hoping someone may have one laying around.

Great casting reels. There is some talk that they may start making them again.

Don't drive the price up by putting in early bids.  Bid in the last 30 sec the highest amount you are willing to pay for the best chance of a low price.

Ebay

He says it's hard to wind and needs a service.

That reel on Ebay must have something wrong as Seamartins are not servicable they are totally sealed units, they just have an oil hole in the case

Someone keeps out bidding me with only seconds to go on Ebay LaughingCool, I really would like to get my hands on who ever it is  YellYell I have missed out on sooo much lately or it has skyrocketed in price in the last few minutes of the auction, I thought I was getting a bargain then I refresh and it's gone up 50%.

Doesn't really matter anymore as my wife is getting sick of all these little expenses going on the credit card , and just when I found an 5500 Emblem pro for $135 buy it now and $19.95 post, thats $120 less than Perth prices.

Yep very hard to find new now

Mon, 2008-05-19 23:01

I know that the guys who brought back the manufacturing rights of Sea Martins (MkII) some 5 years ago in SA have only made limited numbers.....last price was around $240.00 If Cambells cant get em....no chance

The MkI cedar spooled model first came out of Victoria ......limited numbers and are worth $1200-$1500.

Very good long distance casting reel but maybe a bit retro now   Wink

Hi Ya,

I love a Sea Martin too.  One of my brothers was given one as a thank you for working on someones car.  Was I jealous or what?  Last time I saw one on ebay it went for more than I wanted to pay.

Cheers.
