Any recommendations on a navigation app your using? Looking for a backup on my phone , and not just relying on the boat gps. Got a couple of trips coming up. Thanks

You could try garmin avionics
You could try garmin avionics boating. You can mark your gps spots on it as well.

I second that. I only use
I second that. I only use Navionics on an iPad as my GPS is too small to read easily and I can't fit a bigger one in. Navionics is very accurate and you can rely on it. Just make sure you install and do any updates required with wifi rather than end up having to update via a hotspot once you're on the boat. Might have happened to me

When we went across, we
When we went across, we slowly putted through the shallows at the top of each headland which was a pain in the arse. On the way back, we stuck in the channel and all was good.
Also agree on Navionics which is now called Garmin Boating. Costs around $80 per annum i think.

We use SeaIQ on our ship,
We use SeaIQ on our ship, via an IPad. It is not free, however it is AMSA approved so in the case of any accident/incident your ass is covered. It is what a lot of Port Pilots use and is almost as good as an ECDIS. Using ISailor or Navionics leaves you vulnerable. SeaIQ is powered via a dongle plugged into a pilot port which is powered from your AIS. SeaIQ uses IHO, S63 charts and is updated fortnigtly via files automatically emailed to you by the Australian Hydrograhic Office. They are awesome to deal with. SeaIQ is by far the best portable nav program I have ever used.
