Yes the 4000's are good, but 5000 stella SW matches like peas n carrots.  From what a 4000 reel can dish out compared to the 5000, I dont think you are really working the rod.  Caught a 80cm or so chinaman fish in exxy on the viper and stella combo with 40lb accudepth and tamed it pretty darn quick.  And they pull like freight trains at that size.  The 4000 stradic I have is now on the magnum butt which is the next model lighter in rod- it wont put out the drag that the 5000 can and that the viper can handle.  The magnum butt and 4000 reel will be a good snapper outfit I reckon for around shallower and more open waters- as well as for salmon if they ever come.

Skak, Brad nailed it on the head there mate. I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet but watch the video in the link. I was using a Twinpower 4000FB and the Viper on a Longtail Tuna here in Hedland.

any site sponsors sell the Nitro Viper and what is it worth ball park?? How does it compare with the Saltiga S Extreme Combi Jerk

I'm still after a rod for my 5000SW, but it would fit sweet on my Hyper Certate as well

Hunterdive

Check out the rrp on www.innovatorrods.com

Most tackle stores should be able to get ahold of them.  If not try compleat angler nedlands, as they usually carry a decent range of nitros.

I first got mine for spanglies on lures in exxy, had a saragosa 5000 on it.  Was a bit heavy so I changed to the 4000 stradic.  Couldnt stop big fish in coral with that reel so the stella went on and I havent looked back.  Great rods with amazing pulling power.

Too heavy and not really

Too heavy and not really suited IMO.  The saltiga appears to be a jigging reel to me, and the viper isnt a jigging rod.  If you can afford a saltiga 4500H then you can afford a stella 5000SW plus the braid to go on it.

Total overkill for a viper, even the shimano 5k is a little on the large size.
