mulloway... bait or livey
Submitted by crezz on Tue, 2012-04-03 20:26
I seen a young bloke land a 13kg mulloway in the swan tonight and was interested in peoples opinion if a nice smelly bait or a fresh livey is the go? not sure what the young fella was using.

Ive caught plenty on both. Just gotta be in the right spot at the right time. Either way fresh is best.

i just hook them through the
i just hook them through the shoulder behind the head make sure you dont touch the spine
depends where your are at e shed and rivers you would only use liveys but from the
beach dead baits are fine i got my big one on a whole herring on 2 snelled hooks (dead)
its harder to keep a fish alive on the beach because you are usualy casting quite a distance
this is just my opinion

Fresh
Fresh live or fillet seems to be the best for me. I have caught them on frozen bait but with all fishing ( land, or boat) fresh baits seem to land the most fish IMO .

Live baits work well if done
Live baits work well if done properly sometimes it's just easier to use fillets or dead baits I suppose it comes down to the location and condition and will it actually pay off, I've got them on fillets, whole fish, cut fish, lives, everything really just fresh works best and choosing what will be more effective and practical to the area is what it comes down to I've found.
always looking for a new challenge!!
