Minn Kota / leccy motor

 Hi All,

Bought the lil 4.5m tinny that Johnny looked at the other day. Turns out the  watersnake goes forward n reverse n not sideways. So going to upgrade to an i-pilot, can anyone recommend a good one, where to get at a decent price etc? Definitely want spot lock etc. I've been told definitely to stay away from auto deploy models as the motor often cooks / seals perish etc and a bitch to get fixed.

Cheers,

Minn

Adam,

I wrote this one a while back about the new Minn I got.  It has been an excellent motor, and holds in winds up to about 18kn.  Haven't had the battery fail even with a full day on the water.  A big improvement on the older models.  Hope this helps.

Kota Vs Watersnake

Wed, 2022-11-30 14:19

I've had 2 Kota's and 2 Watersnakes and the watersnakes have had double the life of the Kota's.

The biggest issue with both is vibration during travel, both on road and water.

Spot lock or Geo spot is a must have feature on either. Both will keep you within about 5 meters of the spot.

55lb on that size boat is plenty.

Stay away from lithium batterys as the can cook the mother boards.

As for where to get it from, I'd be searching online for the best deal and having it delivered.

If you don't want to fit it go and see dinghy world in Como. They have plenty of experience with them.

Terrova

Thu, 2022-12-01 20:13

Got the 55lb 54" minn terrova from bcf for 3.4k. Old man picked the boat up on Monday Johnny. I drive down in a couple of weeks and will give it a spin around walpole/Nornalup before driving it back in the new year. Will be perfect for the creeks and flats fishing and will have the haines cc for offshore. Hopefully best of both worlds and think this one will be a bit more comfy for the missus than the ole ali bench seat.
