Jockey Wheel help ?

 Hi All

Need to replace a jockey wheel on sons trailer he just bought to start a side business doing property maintenace etc . Its a biggie ... dual axle 6m in length all up

( ex landscaper trailer , so it has the mower ramp up front , toolboxes , hydraulic tipper tray etc) .

So its going to be a pain to move around and manouvre by hand solo ( mind you he is 21 so has a bit of muscle compared to me but it is awkward) ...  anyone had any experience with the 10 inch Ratcheting Alko jockey wheels or similair just for those times when you need to do a bit of solo finessing to get it on towball or in storage spot ?

They are about $200 around town so was going to get for his birthday next week , just didnt want to waste my time and money if they are crap as was considering same for my boat trailer.

Cheers

Go to a caravan shop and ask them, they should or will have all the info on how good or bad they really are

Mike,

I am sure they might work ok but I just replaced a jockey wheel and just went with a traditional version as the boat is so heavy I would have no control if I got it to move at all..  I think the ratchet version is for very fine adjustments.

Good on you for thinking about a useful gift !

I have an alko jockey wheel

I have an alko jockey wheel on my trailer and my old man has Alko hubs on his caravan. I think they are a reputable brand and think the ratcheting one would do what it says it does.
