Freezing mussels

Is it ok to freeze fresh, uncooked mussels? I googled it, but got mixed answers.
any special methods required? Brine, salt, vac seal, etc? How long do they last frozen?
Farked if I'm payin $10 a kilo, when I can fill a 20 litre bucket in one breath.

Mate considering that most
Mate considering that most mussels you buy are frozen, I can't see anything wrong with it. I assume that they'd last the standard 3 month frozen use by date that all seafood has, vac seal for best results I reckon. However, in saying that, if you have more mussels than you can handle, I'm happy to trade some beers for fresh mussels :)

Tee hee,
We wouldn't be allowed to trade mussels for gain, but I could "give" you some mussels, and you could "give" me some coronas!
Seriously alwaysfishin, if you know where to get wet, it's piss easy to get a feed of mussels.

Mussels are sold live, dead
Mussels are sold live, dead ones are no good. The only frozen ones are the green New Zealand ones and are tough as. Haven't tried to freeze the local ones before, so let me know how it goes.
My mate has a seafood shop and sells the black mussels in the 1 kg vac pack, he reckons that they stay alive in those things for a couple of days. God knows how.
cheers

Don't freeze them, it kills
Don't freeze them, it kills them and they go off.
