Crazy scenes at Hillarys

I dropped down to Hillarys at the crack of dawn yesterday. The weather wasn't great, but it was going to be better than today
As those who ventured near the ocean yesterday know it was a bit windy and there was a fair swell. But that didn't seem to bother a few nutters. This included four young guys in a very small aluminium dinghy which was almost down to the gunnels even before it left the harbour, and three guys on a jet ski, one of whom was about 10 years old. Even the charter boats were getting battered getting out yesterday so I don't know what these guys thought they were up to.
I noticed the volunteer rescue people were warming up their boat expecting some trouble,
All the best, Colin Hay

I don't know what happened with these people as I left soon after as I had had enough of the currents that were coming in and out of the harbour. It was like a wishing machine, so I don't know how they were going to get too far.

I went out for a paddle

Sun, 2008-09-21 13:23

I went out for a paddle along the shore in my kayak this morning it was blowing its ass off,, one the way home i noticed just the one ute and trailer at the boat ramp at Palm Beach,,small trailer for a tinny,,it was blowing a gale straight out to sea at this stage,,it concerned me enough to ring sea rescue, i was advised its a good chance it was a tender for someone visiting one of the boats in nearby Mangles Bay,,hopefully thats the case or it will be on the 6 o'clock news tonight. (blowing 45 knots the rescue guy told me at around 10.30 am.)

Yeah , I was planning to go out and check the that new sounder was installed correctly.

When it started blowing a gale and pissing down rain and was still coming down 30 mins later that Beer and the WAFL grand final were a better choice. :P

Mad Colin...

.... and very irresponsible. Just one wave or slightly deep (even small) trough would have seen those goons in the dingy in trouble.

I went out in the Sound yesterday

Sun, 2008-09-21 15:58

and that was lumpy enough - today would have been shithouse!

Some people worry me. I would ask if they have any common sense, but then again its not all that common these days.
