Beach Weed
Submitted by baders on Sun, 2012-08-26 11:42Hey you lot :) Old eastern coast fisho here just getting back into the scene here in WA. I live NOR and have taken a few trips out to beaches Mindarie up to Seabird but have always encountered weedy conditions which made fishing impossible. Whats the go with it ? Is it a seasonal thing or permanent fixture ?
Just come back from a fraser Island Tailor trip and was mightily impressed (first time I've been).
Cheers.

Mulloway on lures
Submitted by Rig on Fri, 2012-08-17 10:42Hi crew
It has been slightly touched on this site before but without much confirmation. Is anyone targetting mulloway around the rivers/beaches on lures on this side of the country. There are quite a bit of footage on all sorts of media floating around at the moment from the east coast, suerly similar tactics and techniques must work in the swan.
With the amount of people targetting bream and flatties surely there has been a mully or two as bycatch even on smaller lures. From what I can gather the east coasters are using hard bodies around 120mm or bigger and 5-7inch SP's which is a bit big for bream
Thinking of having a bit of a go myself as I quite often throw poppers for tailor sessions that are usually relatively short lived which gets me wondering what's lurking at the bottom of some of the deeper holes. anyhow bait soaking seems to be working for my mates but not me at the moment

New with Old?
Submitted by Formerathlete on Wed, 2012-08-15 09:18Hi all,
I picked up a second-hand Shimano Twinpower 4000 from Japan on ebay for a price I was happy with. Whilst it was listed as 'used' it looks and feels brand new. I'm thinking of restoring my old Sportex 525 and teaming it with the reel. For those not ancient enough to appreciate the Sportex 525 was a 2.5m hollow glass rod with the blanks coming from Germany. I've had it for 30 years and I've heard many people since say that the blanks were way ahead of their time. Nice and light, great even non whippy action with plenty of power down low. I figured I might end up with a decent light lure casting or baitcasting combo with a classic feel. Welcome any thoughts.
Cheers

Great gadget - Spool Stop
Submitted by Blue Whaler on Tue, 2012-08-14 09:43For those who wanted to use a overhead reel and got to the stage of crushing the reel with the pointless and plenty overwinds - this is a great invention tested both in GB and South Africa and it seems to be working great. Thought this might be a great gadget for those who did not have the nerve or newbies in overhead casting.

Braid for the beach
Submitted by rails8291 on Thu, 2012-08-09 12:50Hey fellas.
Looking at putting braid on my surf gear, looking for brands of braid that others use off the beach and don't have problems with. I have heard that using braid in the surf you get alot of knots caused by the surf or wind knots, I have never used braid from a beach before so a good braid and poundage and any tips from fellow members that use braid in the surf would be much appreciated,
Cheers in advance for your help

Water depth charts
Submitted by rails8291 on Wed, 2012-08-01 22:14Hey fellas
Been having a look around for water depth charts for Perth beaches, the charts I'm looking for are water depth from shore to about 100 meters out, mainly freo and coogee areas, wondering if anyone knows where I would be able to find this information. ( if I had a boat ild just float over the area to get the depth but I'm landbase only) Any ideas would be appreciated, cheers Rick
