KRudd part deux.
Submitted by scotto on Wed, 2013-06-26 17:59Wonder what this will do to the marine parks, as our good mate tony Burke has been quoted as saying he won't serve under krudd's leadership...

How the hell did I get this email?
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2013-06-25 15:20I know I sent him a letter campaigning against the proposed parks. Just goes to show how much this pillock has his finger on the pulse and is paying attention to what is written on the letters he receives.
Hi,
You have previously written to me regarding the Government’s network of marine reserves.
Labor has created the World’s largest network of marine parks around Australia to protect our precious oceans.
Earlier this month a plan by the Liberal Party to stop these marine parks failed in the House of Representatives. But the Liberal Party has again moved to stop those marine national parks in the Senate.
Senator Richard Colbeck - who was also the principle advocate in the Parliament for the super trawler - has moved to disallow the marine national park management plans in the Senate.
This is the final hurdle for our marine parks.
In the next 15 Senate sitting days, members of the Senate will vote on whether to protect our precious oceans, from the Coral Sea to the South West marine region.
I know many of you have been campaigning for ocean protection for many, many years. This final hurdle is crucial
Can you share this email with your friends and family? The best thing we can do to protect our oceans is make sure as many people as possible know about Tony Abbott’s and Richard Colbeck’s plans to scrap marine parks.
Labor will be voting to protect the environment.
Under John Howard, the Liberal Party used to support protecting the ocean in this way and implemented marine national parks in the Great Barrier Reef and the south east of our oceans and rejected a super trawler proposal.
Under Tony Abbott, the Liberals and Nationals want to say no to anything that involves protecting the oceans. They want to abolish national parks in the oceans and invite the super trawler back as soon as they can.
They have even moved to abolish the management plan for the one marine national park which was established under the Howard Government.
There are two futures on offer at the upcoming federal election: Tony Abbott’s is about plundering the oceans, ours will protect them.
Share this email with your friends and family, and we can ensure that our oceans are protected forever.
Yours sincerely,
Tony Burke

What is going to happen to Essendon
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2013-06-25 14:21After Jobe's admission what do you suspect is going to happen.
I personally dont think they will play finals because of the performance enhancing nature of the charge, or they may loose so many players they would not be able to compete.

Best place to get B&S Cable and Battery Lugs
Submitted by sstevee on Mon, 2013-06-24 11:42Hi guys,
So I've grabbed myself a Bluesea VSR and Switch to run a second battery and was wondering if anyone can recommend a place to get some B&S cable, size 8 and 2 and various lugs.
Looking around the best I've seen is $10 p/m for 2 B&S and $5 p/m for 8 B&S... Then add around $5 a lug to that at about 10 lugs and it seems friggin expensive.
I have access to a hydraulic crimp tool so that shouldn't be too much of an issue
Thanks
Steve

Nostalgia pics
Submitted by sea-kem on Sat, 2013-06-22 12:57Sitting around bored this morning so thought I'd throw up a couple of old pics, hope you enjoy.
This was my first ever Dhuie, was invited out on a boat by some mates who were doing work for the general manager of Wesfarmers at the time. Just after that shot I spewed my guts up the hardest I ever have. The deisel fumes on that boat were atrocious
This shot was taken at our old Leman shack. The Dhuies were all handline caught back then, ended up with 5 that day and one unstoppable one that spat the hooks
This was at a mates place in Broome. We nailed it trolling for Threadies that day and man do they taste good
And finally here is my old babe, my Pacemaker Calais. She was a beautiful, dry boat and never gave me any trouble, we dived and fished off her for a few years mainly out from Leman.
I reckon they had one of the best ever hull designs going at the time. Hope you enjoyed.

Hi guys a couple of questions
Submitted by batenberg on Fri, 2013-06-21 19:10Hi chaps I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering them for me. How much will it cost me per year to register/rego for my boat and trailer, my boat is a 70hp 5m hull, total length with trailer is 7m, tare weight of trailer roughly 500kg gross weight of boat and trailer combined weight 1500kg I've looked at the WA government website but I don't really understand the jargon.
Also how much would it cost for rego of a Hilux dual cab ute 2010 to 2013 model, and just to finish off how much for a tandem axel 10x5 feet , trailer gross weight trailer 2000kg, tare roughly 500kg
Many thanks as some of you might not know we are moving to WA from England, wife and kids are Aussies, looking forward to some decent weather and boat ramp banter...
P.S how much roughly will it cost me for boat insurance

Rottnest Channel Swim 2014 - Looking for Boat and Skipper
Submitted by SydneyZ on Fri, 2013-06-21 14:31Hi All,
I am based in Sydney and am trying to find a boat and skipper for the 2014 Solo Rottnest Channel Swim (22nd of Feb 2014).
I have a paddler commited however neither of us have taken part in the race before. Having no local connections I would really appreciate any suggestions or contacts to assist in finding a boat and driver who might be willing to offer support on the day.
Solo swimmers require a minimum 4.5 metre boat that needs to have the capacity for a worse case situation to fit me, my paddler and perhaps one other member of a support crew.
I understand available boats get booked up about 6 months in advance hence my early request.
Many Thanks

Boat stereo installation
Submitted by Jason K on Thu, 2013-06-20 11:34Does anyone know somewhere decent to get some electronics installed. I bought a stereo and speakers for my boat and I dont want to go cutting holes in the fibreglass myself. I want to flush mount everything and will probably pick myself up a VHF radio and get it put in at the same time.
Some one mobile would be best.
Cheers

Price of water tanks & sheds (semi-rural)
Submitted by Olliej on Mon, 2013-06-17 20:11I'm doing some back of the envelope calculations on moving from suburbia to 1 to 2 HA a little further out.
Keen to get some supply and install ballparks from those that have gone through a similar build
watertank - circa 100000L
Garage/Shed - park boat, trailer, mower and man cave
Septic System - straight leech style or a fancier treatment unit
Cheers.

Lucky chappy
Submitted by carnarvonite on Sun, 2013-06-16 21:39Had a mate from in the same caravan park come round this arvo to let me know that another resident hadn't returned from his fishing trip.
He said he was launching from Pelican point ramp and was supposed to be heading north of the river mouth about 800 metres to give clearance from the netting restrictions. Checked the ramp and his car was still there so notified a crew for the rescue boat and we headed out.
Checked the river mouth and kept heading north as the sun went down, we were almost to the point of turning round because of fading light when we spotted a red flare another 1+1/2 nm further north.
There he was, 75, soaking wet and shivering like a dog shirting razor blades, boat high and dry and half full of sand from where he'd been swamped by a wave as he was pulling his set net in. Got him on board and into some dry clothes and skull dragged his boat, sand and all back in to the water.
Could only tow it at around 8 knots because of the weight in the boat so it became a slow run home.
After last weeks Quobba / Blowholes fatality and the fruitless hours our crews have put in it was nice to have a good result and hopefully, though I won't be holding my breath, our rescuee won't trouble us again and make his tally up to 6 times.
Luckily for him he had told someone roughly where he was going , had flares on board but no return time or no radio or mobile phone to contact anyone if things went pearshaped.

Camping spots
Submitted by sea-kem on Sat, 2013-06-15 17:43Can anyone suggest a camping spot (where we won't get mugged and beaten ;) between Gero and Carnarvon. Just starting to plan next years Gnaraloo trip. Was thinking we would leave on a Thurs arvo and get up that way aprox 9-10 pm so camp and do the rest the next day. It's an epic 13hrs in one hit so a split trip and a few beers on the way would be nice. Cheers Andy

Burrup Penisular - "jump-up" 4WD question
Submitted by Iceman on Thu, 2013-06-13 08:59Heading to Karratha in a couple of weeks and will be looking to go out to the Peninsular for some LB fishing in some of the bays and see the sights.
Have read about a spot called the "Jump-Up" which is a steep incline on one of the tracks in. Just looking for any information such as difficulty etc. Any Photos would be handy and is there a way around it.
I have 150 series Toyota Prado.
Only there for a couple of days.
