Footy season
Submitted by Sunburntfeet on Fri, 2014-03-21 20:52How the hell can a winter sport take 9 months! I'm an Ozzie, I love tanned chicks and V8's, fishing and our sun burnt land. There is so much more we could be watching, why is everyone so focused on such a boring sport! Bring on the ridicule.:)

Tackleworld Esperance got robbed this week
Submitted by woody on Fri, 2014-03-21 20:12Just letting you guys know Tateys Tackleworld in Esperance got rolled this week. Lowlifes got a heap of Stellas and top end reels along with 3 electric reels and a swag of mid-low end large size reels. So once again if you see or hear of any reels for sale without receipts or boxes be very wary. The electric reels won't have cords either. Give the Espy cops a buzz on 90798999.

Easterly This Weekend -Opinions on Boating Weather
Submitted by trueblue_10 on Fri, 2014-03-21 18:52Hi all trying to get a guide on easterly winds you will not take your boat out on for deep sea fishing. What is considered a dangerous wind speed, wind direction and swell for my size boat (I have a 6.1 ally boat).
For instance this weekends forecast for Saturday (Easterly's 14 to 16 knots average to 8.00am and then dropping down) and storms clearing about a 1 mtre swell??
Not gone out on to many easterly's and weather forecast seemed to improve for saturday as it got closer to the weekend

How economical are the nissan 3L? (I'm sure other people have them)

Xtreme update March
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Wed, 2014-03-19 18:21Hi all.
Time for an update.
It has been a very competitive summer and xtreme coolers has once again made it through the challenge of the busy period. I really enjoy the next period of the year which involves servicing a lot of you heading North for a trip or two.
The best way to get your hands on an Xtreme Cooler is to head to Oceanside Tackle and Marine in O'Connor. If you are down South you can head to Dunsborough outdoor sports, Down South Camping in Margaret River and also Mitre 10 in Esperance.
Getway Bentley are stocking the Cryovac Machine as are Oceanside. Go and bug them for the FW discount on all xtreme coolers products.
The cryovac machines continue to be popular and continue to be a quality item you can rely on. Mine is turning 6 this July and still gets flogged.
Give Dave a call with any questions on 0403978583 or email Dave at xtremecoolers@live .com.au
I must say a big thanks to Ryan from Oceanside for displaying my products on the latest series of FWA. This has been totally due to the fact that he uses them and has them in sight when fishing. I have not asked him to do this so i think a big thanks in in order.
Looking forward to meeting some more FW crew over the next few months.
Many thanks.
Regards
Xtreme Dave

Xtreme March Seconds Sale
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Wed, 2014-03-19 18:09Hi all.
I have a few seconds/clearance items i have discounted for FW members. A seconds product is labelled a seconds item when it has some sort of athsetic blemish.
These can come in the form of a scratch, marks, discolouration and slight indentation.
these seconds still come with the 5 year warranty and will work as well as a full priced A grade cooler. The seal, latches, hinges, handles and screws are all in the same working order compared to an A grade item as well. They work just as well.
I have had a couple of these sales over the past two years and they have been quite popular. Free delivery in the metro area is also possible or pick up can be arranged from Mt Lawley or South Perth.
These are the current coolers available.
1 x 27litre marble (seconds) $50.00
2 x 70litre tan (clearance stock) $100.00 each. L: 820, W: 462, H: 410
1 x 70litre marble (discolouration on front wall) $120.00 each. L: 820, W: 462, H: 410
2 x 100litre tan (clearance stock) $120.00 each. L: 920, W: 520, H: 420 still available.
1 x 120litre tan (clearance stock) $130.00 new to list
1 x 120litre marble $150.00 new to list
1 x 260litre marble (clearance stock) $300.00 each bargain. L: 1675, W: 590, H: 535
1 x 55litre marble (clearance stock) $120.00 each L: 810, W: 402, H: 385 Part of the premium range.
These coolers are in stock and ready to go.
Give Dave a call on 0403978583 to ask any questions on the above stock or if you would like to book a time to come and have a look at the stock.
Regards

Questions re rapid pitch tents and / or Great Central Road experiences
Submitted by Ben Derecki on Wed, 2014-03-19 15:36I'm looking at heading to the Rock in twelve months' time and getting there via the Great Central Road out of Laverton.
Originally I was thinking about taking my van but I'm now leaning towards getting a rapid pitch tent and using that instead to give me a bit more flexibility, speed and overall just reduce areas for things to go wrong.
I'm chasing experiences using these sorts of tents - have you used one / do you own one, how do you find them, any brand recommendations (I'm leaning towards the BlackWolf maybe OzTent models) etc?
Also if you've done the Great Central Road how did you find it. I'm in a 2009 Prado which is at home on dirt (although that's a few hundred kms at best, not quite the 1,100 of the GCR). If we do it we'll be kitted up and with at least one other party.
Any insights appreciated...

Diesel outboard motors?
Submitted by scano on Mon, 2014-03-17 21:27Hi everyone,
A topic was mentioned with a mate of mine over the weekend who is looking to purchase a new large boat. He is looking to get diesel inboards however the other person who is buying with him wants supercharged outboards (like a Mercury Verado's)
then em after a few more beers we all agreed that the ultimate would be if they made modern technology (common rail injected) diesel outboard motors. Super efficient and would have great engine life for years of use.
The only main reason I can think of for them not being made and developed much would be due to emissions? And from what I have seen in the past most inboard diesels release the exhaust gas above the normal water line not below it?
I did so e quick google searching to see if there was such a thing as a diesel outboard and there is, however they only seem to be small horsepower engines and of cheaper brands and quality to what is commonly used on most boats. If anyone has some more info on diesel outboards and their likelihood on being developed or their availability I would love to hear more.

Small boat launching spots exmouth
Submitted by scano on Mon, 2014-03-17 19:28G'day all,
our annual boys boys trip to Exmouth is coming up this Easter. We normally head there with about 8 guys and 2x large boats. Unfortunately due to family reasons one of the big boat owners has had to pull out. So that means that I am now taking along my 4.3 metre tinnie instead.
now I know of the obvious 2x ramps being tanaTabiddi and bundegie however most of the ground we have out of those areas is literally miles away (10 mile at a minimum). Given that now we are having to play the ball game a little differently this time I was wondering if anyone could should some light on areas you can launch a tinnie where some reasonable ground is not all that far away.
Tantabiddi obvioulsy holds a lot more reef structure in close and drops off to bigger depths a lot quicker than bundegie but is there anywhere else we should be focusing our efforts? The usual story when people as these sort of info, I am not asking for "old mates secret spot that never fails" merely a point in a direction to help hook some fish and get some good string pull.
our boating experience is good however being a small boat we are not after anything too hairy as far as getting the boat launched or retrieved.
if anyone can shed some further light (even via pm if hat is more prefab le) that would be great

Wood Floating Floors
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2014-03-17 16:10Hi All,
Trying to make the decision at the moment to go for a wood floating floor or stick with carpet (on a chipboard base) Anyone had experience installing them, ease, difficulty etc etc? Theres quite a few corners and nooks and crannies in the areas I want to install into, having trouble making the call at the moment and want to do it at Easter. Trying to decide if easier to get a carpet pro in or try and do the wood floating floor myself with an underlay and any info on where you got it and price be great. Any feedback appreciated.

Well I say this if he isn't prosecuted I will be asking the minister responsible why he isn't being prosecuted

advice please - thinking about renewing my vehicle
Submitted by randall df223 on Mon, 2014-03-17 06:17Hey I am thinking about salary packaging a new car. A mate of mine has towed my fully loaded boat to denham twice now with his 3.5 l petrol subaru outback. On occasions it struggled up the hills. At the ramp on the second (we discovered after the first occasion), the low range switch made a big difference.
I am thinking about the same vehicle as my new car, but would prefer the 2.0 litre diesel motor to keep the day to day running costs down.
Will the 2.0 l diesel have the same, better or worse towing capacity as the 3.5 litre petrol motor?

MH370 Theories
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2014-03-16 21:41Probably the biggest news story on the planet at the moment so am interested in peoples theories etc.So let's speculate. I'm thinking there would be a few nervous American military leaders at the moment knowing there's a stolen 777 out there possibly being turned into a huge flying bomb. 7 confirmed hours of fling time after the last satellite transmission. It could be anywhere Pakistan, Afghanistan who knows it's literally flown off the radar. It's definitely been hijacked and I don't think anyone will claim responsibity for it until they try to do their dirty deed. As for the passengers, my thoughts are with their families. That's just my theory.

Coastal road v's brand highway to Gero
