I don't know all the facts only that he somehow got his finger jammed in the level wind and it now doesn't work.

Not a nice situation. I had this happen to one of my reels and my finger was bruised and sore for a week (and lost all the braid on the reel). Tip to self, watch where your fingers are when you're palming a reel.
From memory, it wasnt that hard to fix (just swapped out two plastic gears).

He should just take the level wind off and thumb the line like a proper fisherman (Lol).
Though he did manage to catch a nice Baldy yesterday. He did better than my Sergeant Baker and small pinky.

Was a good day out ,even if
Was a good day out ,even if the fish didn't want to play,the guys brought plenty of food .Wich kept the skipper happy. Between falling over and losing hats and glasses while we were traveling ,all was good,We had a watch vanish,to fall from someones shorts leg half hour latter .A fun day and will gwet them back out for round two in the near future.
