Spooled,
what tackle and tactics do you use when targeting the jews around hedland? Not sure if they're as prolific around Karratha but I wouldn't mind targeting them but I'm not sure where to start.

Hey Jay, I am still learning myself about the art of catching these mulla's. There are many theorires about fishing the the first quarter of the new moon. We fished the last of the out tide the other day with high at 3pm at just over 5 metres and low at 9am around 3.5m. We get alot of jewies in the harbour in Port Hedland and many people fish the start of the in tides when they are big (spring tides) around 6 to 7m difference. Generally early evening on a the start of the big in is a good time. They run along the edge of channel's and many stick to the pylons in the harbour.
My Balla photo's are on my MAC hardrive will track them down soon!!

Thanks Mate,
We picked up a HUGE one while we were fishing the rock bar at balla balla a couple of years ago during late afternoon. It was a bit of a fluke as we weren't specifically targeting it however we had heard they are quite common there.

They certainly are. Along that rock bar is where i have seen the most and biggest mulloway caught in the Pilbara. They can really turn it on down there at Balla.
