Nothing huge only three demersals . Actually very hard work current was ripping in the 60s . New way of putting up fish pictures. Few months time it will be birds eye fish finger posts . All jokes aside . My boats costs bugger all to run . People with big boats( I am jealous) will find it harder . Fuel price , bait , beer ect will amount to fair bit . Time will tell, I think price of fishing licence will go up . If or when new rules come in . Who will manage situation ? There going to need more compliance officers .

It's funny you say about bigger boats , whe we go to Gnarloo mine is always the smallest boat out of all the weapons moored up.
But like my mate says they can only catch the same amount as we can.
And for minimal running costs.
When we head to the 100m marks it's literally 30km as the crow flies and will use 35-40L of fuel depending on conditions.
We will always bag out out there.

I know it’s not all about
The catch . I’m lucky I catch all my own bait . I’ve brought up 5 kids . If I was only going out for fun and brought basically nothing for eating . Pretty sure I wouldn’t be fishing or married today . My kids and wife been raised on fish . 32 years the other day . I was fishing got message on phone “ do you realise it’s our 32 nd anniversary tomorrow “ cause I do . Oh f$”k . Imagine owning a boat with 200 hp or above .whats it cost in fuel ? $200 to 250 bucks ?( never owned big motor). To go out for the day . What’s bait worth in shop ( occy ,squid) not cheap . Split costs between 2 or 3 people . It’s not all about fillets ect it’s the fun also . I know this .How they can fix situation who knows . Regardless it will upset many including me. Its human nature .we will target other things . Where hunters and gatherers. Provide for our family’s & hate doing it horrible task . When they say fish for future ,save it for future generations . Once something in ,its in . There will be limited fishing places for our grandkids to fish . I love watching kids catch squid / herring it’s unreal . I took my grandson out other day . Funny as fuck . The smile on his face was gold . He caught 5 all by himself . I cleaned them for him . Young fella took them home ate them that night unreal . He loved it

Like you LJ I usually fish alone .....since upgrading to the 225 Yamaha my usual fuel use does not exceed 50 litres ( or 70 if I head out to the fads ) as a retiree the cost of fuel is still manageable but I admit that I do think twice before heading really wide. Oddly I get more pleasure out of putting others onto fish but finding deckies mid week isn't that easy and finding deckies that like early starts is like seeking hens teeth.
I will chase gummies if the new limits come in and try and refine my KGW techniques to become more successful chasing them.
My personal view is that fishing has never been better ......don't know where they are getting their data but it is wrong.
Bait wise occy.....and it is imported crap .....is around $25 a kg. I target wrasse as I find it very successful as a bait and pike also works well.
Skippy cutlets for gummies though it makes great shashimi fresh

There is plenty off fish out there. Size has dropped agree with that . I am same as sea kem mainly fish alone. Because I am hard to fish with . ( and a prick) hate gear failure or cheap rigs .My way very different to others . I always have a plan ( normally have mapped out night before ) It’s drop and go all the time. Always trust sounder . I hate floating or drifting. Many many spots to hit one will always produce .
