wonder what it was

Went down to one my usual haunts on the swan river tonight in hope for some tailor but no luck. Ended up catching a trumpter which was used as a livie and after about 20 minutes i saw the line tighten up with the line pulling off. Missed the opportunity for the hook up but when i was reeling the line back in, the trumpeter was smashed and mushy. just the head remaining, and the hooks looked like they had been crushed. Anyone got any ideas at to what it might have been?

yep mullies will crush but generally they will get away with your bait. Rays just crush and mush and then inhale
