Canning Bridge fishing gone? - Labor Greens policy?

Someone said that Canning Bridge fishing jetty is gone?

Next they'll be asking rec anglers for millions of dollars to build a new jetty elsewhere?

End of an era. So sick of an over bearing government

I would have thought there would be a lot more rukkas if access was removed.

I did read (on ABC) that the fishing jetty in the Bunbury harbour has closed due to old pylons. Perhaps wires were crossed?

Pretty sure access to the first pylon has been gone for years (freo), spend many a day there as a kid..hopefully the new bridge has facilities, couldn't see why not.

They have just about finished the jetty rebuild in Mt Pleasant just of Mount Henry Bridge, wasn't sure how much use that got and was thinking it would get scrapped, but all new pylons in, grating finished just handrails to go.

Only fished of Canning hwy once, catching blowies and grunter with the little rod, bloke comes along with a little net, scrapes a few small mussels of the pylons, here put these on ya hook...fk me the black bream go hard. They were smashing the mussels, great little session after that.

If the old traffic bridge in freo is due could only think canny hwy must be getting a bit long in the tooth also..

Im sure I fished it only a couple of years back. Its a nanny state now because a lot of people cant swim or use common sense

WA hace a stupid legal precedent that has turned us into a communist state

Government is trying protect people from their own stupidity, so people take more risks

From the latest recfish

Thu, 2024-05-02 18:58

From the latest recfish newsletter....If on the push bike tomorrow, ill stop at canning bridge and check. Good to see the Woodies jetty get the green light.

Recfishwest is pleased to see next week's State budget include a range of new and upgraded boating facilities and jetties across WA that will benefit West Aussie fishers and the WA community as a whole.

Fishing infrastructure like this is critical to creating fishing access for everyone and, given fishing is worth more than $2.4 billion to the State econonomy with over 700,000 fishers wetting a line every year, we want to see more ongoing investment in this important area.

The package includes an $82.4 million investment into boating and maritime facilities across the State, including:

$17.5 million to extend northern breakwater at Jurien Bay Boat Harbour
An additional $9.1 million towards the Woodman Point Ammo Jetty replacement;
$6.5 million towards new pens for recreational and charter vessels at Onslow Marina Community Boating Precinct;
$4.25 million to deliver a new jetty for charter vessels at Albany Waterfront Marina and a new finger jetty at the Little Grove Boat Ramp in Albany;
$4 million for a new fishing platform in Bunbury, as part of the Transforming Bunbury's Waterfront project; and
$8.1 million towards sustainable infrastructure at the Houtman Abrolhos Islands.
