What to fish for tomorrow?

I'm needing some inspiration on what to fish for tomorrow.  I will be heading off Tantas doing a solo mission, but just unsure what to target.  You guys got any ideas to help me out as I'm in a bit of a lull at the moment? Saw a monster trout this arvo that just sat there looking at me and I couldn't shoot him, I've lost the will to kill and need it back!

Tuesday 8/18

Seas: SW 1.1 meters at 12 sec.

Winds: ESE 4 to 5 knots

Couldn't shoot him? You must have been snorkelling in the ningaloo marine park where your not allowed to spear!

For the first 20 seconds I thought it was a queensland groper, just sitting there on the weed bank sunning himself, big fat bugger.  Floated over just checking him out then realised the spots on the cheeks, was bright yellow and all barred up with fright colours.  I just sat there watching him and could have had him sooo easy but thought he was just too cool...  Ahh well.

Has to be a westside, will be absolutely magic in the morning over there.

OK that's it...

Mon, 2009-08-17 18:54

...from now on, anything caught/shot north of Two Rocks JUST DOESN'T COUNT! It's like "cartoonland" or something up there! An alternate reality, if you will! Nope, sorry, if you're not slogging it out in the metro area, battling the weather/boat ramp morons/overfished waters (yes I said "overfished" so we need a $30 licence but not a $150 one) any fish you score just don't have the same merit as the ones we get down here!

JK mate, well done on letting him live...karma will repay you in spades, I reckon!

I forget

Mon, 2009-08-17 19:35

I forget that its miserable down there. :))) Im just at a loss as to what to fish for lately, I've done pretty much everything to death except GT's, but don't have the gear for some of the busses around the place. I'm thinking I might have to go looking for some tinny reds, I've only got one from the mothership and need to change that. Will make sure I take some pics of the conditions. ;) (even though I've probably jinxed them)

from what i heard on the grapevine you are now banned from fishing . you can still go out on the water in nothing under 20knts with a 3mtr swell, while carrying no rods hand lines or a speer gun, so you may as well stay at home and do your gardening :)

I was going to suggest chasing some GTs until I read that you didn't have the gear! Pull your finger out Adam I thought you were sussing that out ages ago haha...

What I'd give to be throwing poppers at the back of the reef in glassy calm conditions... grrr work tomorrow and Brads over at the montes :(

Yeh thanks for that Adam. While I'm out soaking in the rain and wind tomorrow trying to put up a fence.. I'll be thinking of you in the sun and glassy conditions reeling in whatever it is you end up going for. *shakes fist*
