URGENT - Two Rocks Marina advice needed

My bosses are going fishing inside Two Rocks Marina on the weekend. I have never fished there myself, so any advice that anyone can pass on about best spots, types of fish that could be caught, etc. would be greatly appreciated (I need to get back in their good books).
Many thanks, Colin Hay

fish out the end, near the mouth, casting north west. Its a bit of a walk, but should be a fair few soapies around this time of year. Just watch out for the crowds, it gets busy!

Just use mulie, under a float with a glow stick to see whats going on, seems to be the most effective method. Quite reefy ground.

I have fished the mouth also but on the other side (where the boat moorings are).  Cast on the outside to the north, pretty much up near the mouth.  Have not been for a few years but use to puckup tailor, skippy and herring.

Hi Tony, I am guessing there is public access to that other smaller wall where the morrings are? Also, are you able to fish near those moorings?

Hi Colin, never tried the inside of the marina.  We use to be able to drive all the way down but it has been a few years since I have been there.  It would not be too far to park and walk down anyway.

Marina Fishing

Wed, 2009-01-28 12:42

Colin,

I have caught all sorts inside the Marina. I park at the ramp and walk. Lots of burley will help. I generally use prawns on lite gear. The end of the breakwater does fish well in the evening but it can be quite busy. Tailor will run and plenty of Salmon to be had at the right time of year. The guys are right, it's quite reefy on the bottom so stay away from that and either use a float or bait cast.

Cheers, Vince

Is it worthwhile fishing half way along that main wall at all? And if so, what sort of fish would you catch. My bosses aren't very experienced fishos at all so I have make up some rigs for them.

Half way along the wall you will see a big pole with a green triangle on top.

That marks the top of a lumpy bit of something.

it's about 6ft on top and then drops pretty quick to around 10 -11 ft either side of it.

If you have your casting head on, loads of herring and tailor pass over it pretty regular. Caught a few Snapper ( Don't know which type though) hard up against the pole and some other fishies of which I haven't a clue.

If you use a bottom bait, the crabs will drive you mental with pulling the hooks under rocks and snags.

A bit past the pole I just cast out a mulie and just spin it back for the Tailor, nothing big though.

Been seen off a few times when it has gone dark and never got to see what they where.

prohibited!

I dont see a big issue but just to let ppl know, the Tworocks Marina wall on the West side and East side is "technically" Fishing Prohibited from what i'm aware. It was only brought on when a fisherman fell off one of the rocks and broke his pelvis and sued for 600 thousand.

crabs!

They've been doing alright there Matt from what i've been told. The Marina Manager says they're okay with the crabbers providing they dont put drop nets in the main channel and behind crayboats like ppl have done before!

Bosses .. Who Needs them?

Wed, 2009-01-28 19:31

Colin, you must really need some brownie points if you are making rigs for them LOL. The trick here is to avoid any potential litigation and just fill a decent size esky with goodies, march about 200 meters along the wall from the ramp, burley up, bait up, sit down and relax on the inside. FORGET about trying to be a hero and fishing outside (west side) LOL. I am really starting to think that they just want you to do it this way...LOL. Without knowledge, why would they pick this spot?? Wink Besides, they are smart of course (like all us bosses are). There is a tavern not too far away. Oh, and by the way, try using a baitless hook for a while. That will save your hide if you start to be a show pony.. LOL Also, if they catch a fish (which is highly unlikely) make sure you take a picture.

Cheers, Vince

It always good to get Brownie points up when you are planning

to ask for a raise Vince and Russ.

Many thanks to everyone for the information.

Ryan, that is interesting about the prohibition. I guess they are just trying to cover there butts in case if litigation. But it is a concern as if one marina is banned the others may soon follow and that would be a disaster for many recreational fishers in Perth.
