Snapper Ban
Submitted by tommytomato on Thu, 2005-08-25 12:03
Hi guys
I've had a few people ask me now if I had any charts or map or images on the latest snapper band.
I got this today, so I hope it clears things up for people.

Hey Tommy
Cheers for posting that info up, very interesting indeed!! What is your perspective on the closure?
Could you private message me regarding the difficulties in posting the picture, as I would like to make it as simple as possible so it doesn't become a hassle to upload your image. Cheers Tommy.

I find it's a good idea for
I find it's a good idea for the snapper closure, See I live in Rockingham and you should have seen it last year, people were going out in the morning catching there snapper and then they were back in the afternoon for the night catch, put it this way there was more than one vessel doing this, I'm not the only who has seen this done, a local tackle shop I know of has also seen this go on, from what I'm told now patrols will be on in a big way this year to maintain the snapper closure.

closure
Tommy i agree with it 100% and re the people that abuse the system and in the long run will impact greatly on the fish stocks and the fishos over all because of a selfish few . we have been discussing at abenteuer a way to steam this abuse .So far it has come down to using our resorces .Film said law breakers and pass on to fisheries for there action .fisheries are streached now .if any one would consider jioning us in a survalance action on the water and at boatramps let me know the more crew and cameras the greter deterent it would be .A nother person was nailed at nanga due to the public imformation, while we were there

Know that is a great idea....film the pricks and publicly shame them..
I'm thinking of mounting a Javelin Anti-Tank Missile onto the front of the tinnie. Picked it up from a Garage sale in Swanbourne. Seems the guy selling it swiped it from work, as a bit of retirement fund, care of the defence department. Cockburn Sound needs some more artificial structure.
Anyone seen the TV program ‘Coast Watch’? NZ production with their Fisheries Department.
Busting people for illegal fishing etc…..very good stuff…pity we don’t have enough policing here…

Sound Defense Plan
Very good idea re-shaming people.. Something along the same lines how the department of fisheries publishes the people that break the laws in some fishing mags and in the paper.. There needs to be a precedent set where everyone hears about how bad one person was fined or their boat confiscated.. Enough to make people seriously reconsider fishing for the pink snapper and is it really worth it.. Something where the major news stations get a hold of it and make it known to the greater public that it is just not on and severe punishments are the result.
