Round 12 - Who will be Owen??
Getting to the time that us tipsters need to get better to chase down Timmo. Well done so far mate.
Tougher round this one. Gambled last round a little, but picked Port Adelaide over the soggy Pies, but WC and GWS let me down. Geelong form has been up and down, and I was sure that GWS was up to it -alas the fat lady thought other wise.
only two(almost) certainties this Rd - Hawks over Bombers, Richmond over Suns. But Suns have some returning from injury and even this could be a harder than you think one.
4 games this week with teams locked together on the ladder, and 8 out of the nine top teams are playing each other.
Im rating Port and still think they may feature well in the finals, but Dogs are bitting oppositions - so Doggies for me
Freo for 2 from 2 (forget the other 10 LOL)
50/50 for NM vs Cats - leave that till later but leaning toward Cats. I think NM has had a good run but against lesser teams
WC to continue flat track bullies, but not convinced.
Carlton the big surprise so far this season (apart from Freo's tumble from grace) so with them vs Saints IMO
Sydney vs GWS - think Sydney but leaving this in the locker still
Melbourne vs Collingwood - what happened to the Pies. Was heading for a season when many (not me) predicted they would make the 8. I don't think so, but again this is a ball toss. With no confidence leaning Melbourne.
Phew - could be anything from 2 correct to 9 (dreaming)

Danger game for West Coast. McKenzie to Walker would be the obvious matchup but JJ is the one I am worried about and I think we'll see Shep put on him to stop his ground game and McLovin coming in to put a stop to his marking game leaving Eddie. It wouldn't be such a stupid idea to bring in McGinnity on the back of some brilliant WAFL form to play the shutdown role on Eddie. The last thing the Eagles want to do is get into a shootout and I think the midfield battle will be the key and as much as I enjoy watching Sloane (just a pure footballer) I want to see Redden go head to head with him and shut down if required this weekend.

I partied pretty hard back in my late teens and early 20's and do 2 day benders on my ear. Yeah I could rave all night but no way I'd have been running around a footy oval at training for the two days after I eventually got to sleep. I think the extent of the drug use at the time was blown out of proportion except (eventually) for Cuz for whom it obviously started affecting his training. No way being on the gear is performance enhancing

Surely at least one would have been picked up by ASADA which is a completely different testing system to the AFL's one where they would not have received an instant ban.
The comedowns and malnutrition from being unable to eat would accumulate very quickly to the point where you'd need the drug just to get through a training session leading to higher use and your body would breakdown to the rigours of AFL extremely quickly.
No doubt however the boys went hard at it in their downtime, I saw Cuz at a rave on NYE 1998/99 and he was floating around the dancefloor.

Looks like a few handballs towards squarely blaming the AFL for in action hmmn I would’ve thought the club could’ve drug tested /penalised the players themselves given what they knew if they had their priorities right at the time .

It's a shame that the AFL hasn't changed regarding drug use.
As long as they persist with the "three strikes" policy, they will never be seen as serious about it.
To my knowledge, and I stand to be corrected, they are the only sporting organisation in the world that condones the use of drugs through their "three strikes" policy.
I would like to see an unbiast story about drugs on "ALL" AFL clubs, i'm sure it would open up a few eyes as what realy goes on behind closed doors, the Essendon saga showed a little of that.
Seeing that story last night with the Richmond club, one has to think negative about the AFL's involvement.
Kind of like big corperations & Government departments, cover it up so all looks good & secures my job.
My thoughts only & interested to hear yours.....

We are trying our hardest to drive out drugs in society (in vain), but there are so called "roll models" being allowed to continue it without penalty.
I would like to make it clear that I do not in any way rate sports stars as roll models. IMO
I guess that would make young up & coming footy stars to make a choice, a well paid career in the sport they love or a possible life of misery.....
Having said that, some who have used have gone on to well paid careers in media etc. Maybe because it's just a "boys club" attitude.

Everyone forgets that for the last 4 years freo have been in premiership mode. Why the fuck would you play youngsters when its not necessary at the expense of experienced and better players?
These young kids have to earn their spot and with injury comes opportunity. This year they are getting that. And i like what i see. Put sandi fyfe johnson and bennell into that team, pickup a quality tall key position player hopefully and i reckon we will be back in finals contention in 2017. A lot of these kids are going to get a lot of football into them this year.
I am liking what i am seeing.
Ffs, how many top draft picks over how many has brisbane had and look at the basket case they are. Freo havent had that luxury and it appears like we have unearthed some good young kids despite having the bottom end of the draft picks for the last few years.

How many beers you had gilly? You're not making sense. On your theory, the eagles should drop a few players to play kids currently playing east perth just to expose their list. Would you be happy considering they have just played in a grand final? Remember 2013? We played in a grand final. The next year we went out in straight sets and last year we won the minor premiership and lost a prelim by a few goals to a team that the following week went on the smash the daylights out of your team in a completely embarrassing performance.
This year we have fallen and its been disappointing. But from what i see the climb back is going to be pretty quick.
How is you team travelling? Grand finalists last year. Cant beat a top eight team this year.
