But I have only been up here 1 yr and Jay, daisy and Brad would be the boys to ask. But a boat is the go basically. Possible to catch some nice jacks and small GT/Queenies from the Point sampson causeway and other shore based spot. Very tidal so get a tide book for sure.

Sometimes nice at high tide to sit at Hearsons Cove with a cold tinnie and a live bait out and you never know what will happen. I think its the beer that counts then.

I have only been out of fortescue on boat mate but there is a few creeks in the area that you can access via the land, midgy danga's are bad there mate so pack your aeroguard. You can access a few of the "flats" baches etc so i am assuming small with the odd bigger queenises, GT's and the other usuals will be around. I know of quite a few barra caught out of the creeks in the area so your in with a shot there too mate. Light to medium spinning gear and the usual "north of the 26" lure collection will see you through mate
Couple of good rock bars in the main river too worth chuckin a SP at mate, jacks and barra

Will be sorting out a two X rods & reel set-up, plus a few softies ~ lures to take up....inline with what you suggest.

A selection of Softies, small poppers, metals and shallow minnows should see you right. As brad said light to medium spin gear (20lb ish) should be adequate and provide plenty of fun.

Never fished that area from the shore, only out of a boat.

Well up here now, will try on sat and sunday to get out to the ramp near Fortesque Road House, as that's where we are!!!
May try and find out about a tinnie hire for the next weekend and try the flats area's around Cape Preston as well.

been here nearly two weeks now and still yet to wet a line in the sea... only wet line I have seen is the cloth's line outside in the camp..

ps any place in Karratha you can store a rod and gear when you fly out on R&R??? they won't let us leave fishing gear and personal stuff in the camp site or at the construction camp! I hate dragging a load of stuff back and forth to Perth every two weeks!!!!!
