Don't worry Honsu, I will use it for next comp. Going to start it next week. This is a warm up comp, but some beautiful fish and photo's all the same.

OK My vote in this order!

Tue, 2006-08-29 01:11

1. Sean Kingie
2. Rob GT
3. Kletch Pinkie
4. Scuttle Trev
5. Vincents Red
6. Honsu's Bream

These are for the Photo's - not the merit of the fish caught or fishermen!

I think Rob GT is very meritorious for a night shot, tough to do!

I look for things in a photo..

1.Clear focus on the fishes eye
2.Use of infill flash to remove shadows and enhance fish color saturation
3. Removal of Glasses to top of hat so we can see your eyes/face as well
4. Background composition
5. Overall composition / use of avail fish & background.

If I was rating the "merit of the catch" I would likely vote different I guess, but we are voting for the photo...right?

Others will differ no doubt.

Cheers!

Are entries still open for the next competition Adam? I might have something to add after I get back from Karratha if everything goes well ;)

Yep

There will be more competitions coming Jay if you don't make it in the next one. I had so much other content after all the Exmouth trips it was hard to put up a photo of the month competition without it getting pushed off the frontpage. You don't want to be in next month's comp anyway, theres some fish and photo's in there that are pretty bloody impressive. I'd hold off to the one after next if I was you. :)

Is there any way of making a forum topic 'sticky'?? If not have you considered maybe changing the forum software to something like phpBB? Just a suggestion that could make things a little easier.

Comp

Tue, 2006-08-29 16:36

Yep, I can make topic's sticky in forums, but I don't like doing that on the frontpage as new content that goes there deserves to be up the top. Not that the entries for photo of the month don't either, so I just chop and change it about. I don't really like phpBB, it is ok, but I just find drupal easier to use.

Post up any photo's that you get anyway Jay, then I will select the best one to go in the comp anyway. The next competition one is already closed with brilliant entries and theres already a few new ones that will be up and running against you, 8kg of pinkie goes a long way. :) All the best for your upcomming trip.
