Personal Locator Beacons - Recommendations

Looking to buy my son a PLB for his birthday. Any recommendations. Don't suppose you know how good they are unless you have to use one, but anyone with any knowledge would be helpful. AND, where to buy or go have a look.

I just got a new "safety alert" i think it is. GPS equipped, ten year  battery, 20 year body and made in Australia so it was a no brainer for me!

I got one of these

it attaches to my auto inflating life jacket I wear if out solo. Haven't needed to use it in anger fortunately and I seem to remember paying about half that price as listed

with the small ones the battery obviously doesn't last as long, would recommend having a bigger one also mounted in the vessel depending on the application but its ceratainly small and light and came with a holster, this is for a MOB scenario for me

I got the same one and keep it in my pocket whilst on the water without it annoying me too much or like Rig I attach it to my jacket if I'm out solo.
