If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Furuno and Waeco here .. the
Furuno and Waeco here .. the fridges run the same danfoss compressers so its really a question of taste as far as i know .. i liked the plastic case over the metal.

The Waeco and Evakool both
The Waeco and Evakool both run danfoss compressers. The Engel has some Jap made 'swing' motor in it (Held in place by some nice springs inside so it doesnt rattle around as much over rough terrain). Apparently works better if going offroad, corugations etc. Downside though is it does use more power than the danfoss's. Not to sure what the new plastic body engels have in them. Possbilly Danfoss's if they are trying to copy Waeco. If i was using it for 4x4ing i'd go Engel. If for sitting on the boat or mainly road driving Waeco.
Totally agree on Furuno for sounder too. I have both Furuno and the Lowrance HDS, if price didnt count definantly Furuno.

furuno FCV620 by miles,
furuno FCV620 by miles,
just get the 1kw Tranny, makes heaps of diference to the 620's reception even on 600W
as for the fridge, you can't brake a Engel easily...

furuno
I have the 620 also but it states in the manual that the 600 watt transducer is the maximum that you can use? as I wanted a 1kw when i bought mine.
As for the Engel I have a MT45 thats a 40 litre works perfectly I used to use my secretarys old one it was a 1979 model & still works a treat but that sold me when looking to buy my own.
If i was using the fridge on a boat I would buy the waeco as they are obviously plastic & would last longer on a boat & not steel framed like the engels that would rust easily with salt spray etc.
The engels weigh heaps more as well so take that into consideration if you are planning on moving it from car to boat to house all the time.
Good Luck

I probably would buy a Lowrance over the Furuno 620. Gets to be a tougher decision when you get to the 585 or better.
