you need to be a little more

you need to be a little more specific mate.

what fish do you want to target? and whereabouts do you usually head from pt peron ramp? what techniques have you used so far to no avail?

If it's just the bread and butter fish it shouldn't be too hard. Anchoring up near the weed patches just out from the ramp and burleying up usually sees me with a mixed bag or bread and butter fish. Whiting, herring mostly.

Also, drifting with a couple of squid jigs out usually finds me some squid. Drift over those same weed patches. I've used a pink or orange jig and every time i've caught squid.

Hope that helps mate, but be a little more specific too.

Good luck!

good advice on the squid from kavman there they are the best bait for every thing and not ba tucker in there own right to. i agree on the pink or orange colour choice but i don't go for any old jig anymore have tryed the cheep $3 dolar ones and you do get a couple on em but after splashing out on a couple of $17 yozuri jigs my catch rate has dramaticly increased. and i think you do beter to work em a bit to insteadof just drifting em over the  side of the boat, cast em out behind you as you drift a let em sink down then twitch em slowly back to the boat, it's a tough call on how close to the bottom you want to go as loosing jigs is not cool but i recon if yur not getting a bit of weed hear and there your not getting the jig down into the strike zone.

it depends on how big the boat is .if your launching from point peron head out from the chanel markers and between john ledge reef and the 5 fathom bank you will find skippy , whiting (mainly sand but the odd kg)herring along with the chance of the larger species. you can anchor up and burley or drift. just make sure all the correct safety gear is on board

Hi Baldy, welcome.Straight

Hi Baldy, welcome.

Straight out from Point peron is the 5 fatham bank (Can see this on your gps).

This is the best location for you to start, there is always snapper on the bank out there, just a matter of finding them.

Options

1. Anchor and burely using cubed mulies. Then float a mulie on a set of gangs down into your burely trail. (or snell a mulie if you know how).

2. Drifting across the 5 fatham can be worth a go too, try and drift off the back of it, say from 10 metres out to 20-22 mstres.

Always a good chance of picking up KG whiting (big oens too) Dhu fish, black bums and obviously snapper.

Best baits are whole mulie, or whole californian squid.

Snapper are best targeted sunrise or late arvo.

Hope this helps mate.

you can also anchor

on 3 fathom bank around the reefs between garden and carnac island you get big skippy,kg's and the odd dufish/pink snapper

you can also try mewstone reef off freo where you get big tailor if you use whole mulies or garfish and cast into the white wash
