My nightmare has come true

Well after six and a half months in the caravan in Exmouth, Karratha and Broome, the day I've been dreading has arrived....we've come back to Perth. What's with this weather? It's freezing. If there's a silver lining I have to go back to Exmouth in November to get or sell my boat so I'm sure there will be a day or two set aside for some more fishing.

Here's a photo of me offering my opinion on the first set of traffic lights I've seen since April.

I have to send out a huge thanks to Adam and Renae for all their help and company in Exmouth, and to Brad, Nicky and the girls who helped heaps in Karratha. The trip wouldn't have been half as long or anywhere near as much fun without them. There are heaps of other people- Jeffo, Joel, Gribbo, Gully, Ewan, Ozzy, DanW plus others who were great to fish and hang out with and made the trip as well.

Highlights of my trip were all the marlin and sailfish with Adam in Exmouth and my week at the Monties with Brad. I've got thousands of photos to sort through so will post a few of the unseen ones up in the future.

If anyone is thinking of doing a similar trip it is the best thing we've ever done. Hayley and I are both lucky we have jobs that let us travel but it's worth all the effort/saving/planning/dreaming for the reward of spending quality time in places most people only get to visit quickly.

Now that we're back in Perth, if anyone needs a decky or wants to collect a few crays soon just let me know. I'm always up for a fish or dive when I'm home and am pretty keen to have a spear off Perth too.

Fingers crossed that we can do it all again someday.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that had to endure Brad's singing.  Was good to have someone to go out with the same enthusiasm mate.

the silver lining is that we have KFC down here. Those northerners can only dream...

I say every time those boys post pics of glassy oceans, we start posting pics of all stars boxes, popcorn chicken and buckets of gravy & mash. (hehehe)

It can be very hard to coming back to the big smoke Tim

I know I found traffic lights, traffic, crowded shopping centres, cold weather, crowded fishing spots, etc. hard to deal with when I moved back down from Karratha.
We had to move out to Helena Valley to try and get away from everything.

I would say it's like being slapped in the face with a fish, but as you may have noticed we are not allowed to catch them here in the south.

Hey Lucky, I'm loving the narrative, its how I felt when I drove down last week.  Big thumbs down to the traffic, crowds and the cold.  Just remember theres no rush to get back up here as the boat will get well used if I ever get these damn uni assignments done.  Anyway it was great fishing with you!!  Also don't worry about getting that rock just yet, treat em mean keep em keen I say, mind you who's the single one here!!!!!

Get back to the books Joel

Wed, 2009-10-14 19:59

Get back to the books Joel so you can put some hours on the boat. And after spending a few chilly nights in Perth I've certainly got a better appreciation of what you went through in the troopy and your wet socks!
