Marron
I am keen to get away for 2 nights with my 2 year old son and father to try and get some marron. I would like to camp by the river so we can have a few drinks whilst marroning and I am looking for suggestions. I would rather use nets than snares, so I am prepared to travel a bit further south.
Looking at maps and using google searches I have come up with Rooneys Bridge, Fernhook Falls and Wrights bridge as being potential spots. I am told there are less marron in the Blackwood River, so the first two spots may be better. I have also read a bit about Potters Gorge (Wellington dam) and Honeymoon Pool, but I would only be able to snare in the dam and supposedly the locals have overfished the area.
Anybody know whether these sites are any good? Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Suck eggs
Don't want to tell you how to suck eggs but you'll have to be super switched on taking your young fella into that situation. Easy to get distracted and it would only take a second to lose him in the water, especially if you're going to be drinking.
Haven't marron fished for a while but there used to be good numbers in Wellington Dam when I did.

The young fella is actually
The young fella is actually really good around the water. Two and a half years old and he has camped/fished Ningaloo, D'Entrecasteaux NP, Wagoe and Logue Broom dam. He loves being near the water and is always very careful. Obviously I keep an eye on him anyway, and my old man is always happy to just follow him round and watch him.
Wellington dam is looking pretty good at the moment.

Wellington dam
Mate I would suggest going to wellington dam. Its not trophy waters there so the marron only have to be 80mm instead of 90mm and you can use scoop nets there instead of snares. If your dead set on using drop nets then try Honey Moon pool which is also near wellington dam... you can use nets there but you will be contending with other campers.
I have a spot near wellington dam that we caught 32 on opening day (between 4 of us) and 16 (between 2) the next day so there are quiet a few there this year!
Good luck mate

Hey Piggy, you need to check
Hey Piggy, you need to check the rules. Welligton Dam is snare only - no scoop nets allowed.
