Kooljaman Cape Leveque beach fishing

Hi all,
I am heading up to Broome and Cape Leveque next week, staying at Kooljaman.
I'm not taking a boat, so will be focussed on beach fishing. Has anyone been up there lately? Much success off the beach? I plan on stocking up on tackle in Perth before heading up there, should I focus on slices, poppers etc?
I will put up any good fish photos once I get back.
Cheers.

I did a season at the resort many years ago, casting lures would be the best option. I remember a South African guy catching a big longtail of the western beach and then going up to Hunters creek and caught a big GT. He was casting lures from memory from a big surf rod ..hard work!! Most prople simply drown a bait at high tide and don't catch anything, you will have to work hard ...Would be worth trying to balloon of the western beach, any tide would be ok. The tide may take you up or down the beach but that would be ok.I had a tinny so didn't bother with beach fishing except for some fly fishing in hunters creek in the low tide pools. Jacks,Cod,Bream,Queenies, Trevally etc. Put in the hours and you would do ok . The Island off the headland is another option for reef fish but getting them out of their home would be difficult I think. Good luck !

If you do have a large capacity reel then as trymyluck says head straight down the west side beach from the campground and balloon a mulie or something out for a spaniard,
not sure how the current will affect it but this time of year you are a good chance of strong easterlies to get the balloon out.
you could also collect crabs for bait/burley and use a heavy handline off the point for bluebone.

i just got back from
i just got back from kooljaman, we stayed for 2 weeks, the beach fishing is kinda average.
use a small gang or single hook under a float cast and fast retrieved off west beach for big longtoms, heaps of small gardies off the boat launch beach using sabikis with squid. U cant drive to hunters creek along the beach anymore, u can only fish 500m of east beach and a kilometre of the boat tlaunch beach. the swimming beach is basically fishless.
the charter there is okay, only saw an average of 3 size fish a trip, but the guy is a good bloke.
HEAPS of sharks on the swimming beach after dark, wire, hook, bait=shark, 0.5-1m average.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.
