What brand jigheads do you guys use for demersal and up north? I've been using TT extra heavy jigheads but have found some Nitro's which are a lot cheaper.. How strong are Nitro's?? any one had problems with them straightening?
cheers

What size are you talking?
What size are you talking? I have only had one nitro straightening (5/8oz )a bit on a bloody big Chinaman. Still landed the fish so I haven't got any complaints about them. Make my own in the larger sizes now and save a packet.
Cheers

Depends what type
of Berkley you use, Salwater Pro's are ok. have used them in lager sizes 2-4oz and havn't straighten one of them yet.
Lately i've been using Nitro Elevator Jigheads, recently landed a 25kg+ Sambo on one and it held up fine.

Yeah I agree with Matt and
Yeah I agree with Matt and would vouch for the Nitro Elevators as well. The can take a beating and it produces a great action with the soft plastic.

Have been using TT's in
Have been using TT's in 1/4-1.5oz with hook size around 3/0-5/0. Mainly targeting inshore snapper/spanglies..
Sounds like the Nitro's can handle abit of punishment..

The nitros have a lot thicker
The nitros have a lot thicker hooks but they dont seem nearly as sharp (and a little harder to put through the plastic due to their size, shape and barb). Never had any larger TT's straighten, but then I only fish 20-30lb max on plastics. I'd be surprised if the nitros bent on the same gear as they're so thick though. If you're fishing 50-80lb and skull dragging it might be a diff story. If anyone wants to know what they bend out and donate one or two to me, i'm happy to do a proper test and let you know how many kg's it takes to bend them.

Nitro Jig heads
Berkley Nitro Jig heads use OWNER hooks. They are THE best hooks you can buy. TT heads are Gamakatzu hooks. Good but not in comparison to Owner.

tt's are the most strongest
tt's are the most strongest and defently the sharpest. they use OWNER hooks for there jig heads can never go wrong. all depends on what size hook and wat size gauge it is if will straighten

TT's use mustads and gamas. I
TT's use mustads and gamas. I use the gama versions (says on the pack which it is).
Had a look over the nitros again and they use owners. Anyone know which ones the ones i'm thinking of are that have tinned hooks? Maybe its only the heaviest ones?

i thought it was the nitro
i thought it was the nitro saltwaters with tinned owner hooks.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Yep the TTs I use have black
Yep the TTs I use have black nickel plated gama's. The nitro I want to change to use tinned owners (saltwater pro) I rate the black nickel plated owner suicide hooks but not sure how good the tinned owners are?
